Maybe someone on here can help - I've been wondering about using a telescoping whip as a counterpoise.? I have one about 10 feet long, from Buddipole, with the normal 3/8-24 thread stud on the end.? This would not be for mounting right on the radio! ? I can't see any way to use a mobile antenna mount, but maybe there's a way with the Workman QRCS3 "Jaws" mount.? It can't quite close far enough to grip on a 5/16 inch driveway marker pole, though.? Clamping it on a leg of my TV Tray Table 'operating desk' might work, but it would be awkward.? Same with clamping on my steel-frame folding chair.? And it seems like it should be very close to the X5105, too.? Using a "Hamstick Dipole" mount could work, but it would then need a mounting pole - and a way to hold up the mounting pole.? ( I don't want to carry along a sledge hammer! )
