One of his recommendations is ferrite beads on all cables, to reduce RFI.
The page is actually for a different radio, but they use the same mic.
Ferrite Beads
In order to prevent radio-frequency interference, all cables should be fitted with ferrite beads:
- Microphone cable
- Power cord
- CAT cable
- Head unit connection cable
(No head unit cable on our X5105, though)
There's also a mic modification to improve the voice quality.
