I think I know the answer to this one, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
What is the implication of removing the battery from the X5105, in terms of operation? I never use the internal battery, since I always carry a 4.5Ah LiFePO4 in my bag that charges what feels like an order of magnitude faster than the internal battery. Does the stock 3800mAh battery provide persistent power for the internal unit settings, or does it use a smaller coin-style battery for that?
In a somewhat related question, has anybody ever tried bypassing the charging circuit to charge the internal battery, to get it to charge faster. I'd stop carrying the external battery with me if I could get the internal one to charge faster than the 8-12 hours that it currently takes. Mine also appears to have a significant parasitic draw in it, so I have to watch it like a hawk.
