Re: No power output
开云体育Hi Erich, ? It sounds as if the antenna wire inside the radio has disconnected from the circuit board.? This has happened on both my X1M and G90. ? It’s bee quite some time since I was inside my X1M and can’t remember if it has 2 boards in it or not, but in the G90, I also had a miniature coax disconnect from one of the boards. ? Hopefully, your problem isn’t more involved than that. ? 73, Clint, VE3CMQ ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]>

No power output
Hi
Have this Rig since longer time. But used them not. Now would like tu use them for outdoor activities, and checked them in shack. I became familiar with the menues - its easy. Two issues recognized: 1. no power output (use CW on all bands) 2. reception is poor - Checked as follows: try to read the Beacons on eg 14 100 - nothing (I am located in Aegean sea on an island) Can read the RWM on 4996, 9996, 14996 - but weak. With PRE on/off there is a difference. Other stations not able to read. If I compare with the FT-991 big difference. Any suggestions - please Erich SV8/HB9FIH |
Re: no TX power on any Band and outside the Band
Hi, The inductor is very small and is part of the copper trace. Be very careful around that area especially if you have to replace the final transistor as the copper easily lifts off the board eith heat from the iron. Nigel ZL1NAY? Re: X1M not transmitting - repair needed NOT NEEDED NOW
I am glad I decided to take one more look inside before writing it off. The main jumper was upside down from where it should be and though I had read in a previous post that if it was inserted wrong? it would or could toast the board; in my case it did not. The front panel had a bent pin and I straightened it and then the radio came back to life. The flaky microphone is still problematic but it's working. I also rewired the serial to prolific usb cable and it's talking to HRD. It should keep me busy for awhile. I would like to see if there is a transverter approach to get on 2m SSB later on. Well done.? You will like it and enjoy its back to basics operation. I have only had two issues with this radio.?? The mic cable seems to have been poorly soldered to the plug.? It stops txing.? I pulled the plug apart and soldered it properly, including the PTT lead that had become disconnected.? All good for 5 years since. I made a clumsy mistake with the power plug and touched the screen of the audio connector at the rear.? Poof.? I blew an RF suppressing RFC and some PCB track.? Replaced both.? That outer ring tests as grounded but isn't directly connected to the case. Back to perfect operation now. I used it on a VK9 expedition and had good results.? ?Otherwise it's done a few SOTA summits as well.? It's now my standby rig. 73 Ron VK3AFW On Wed, 6 Sept 2023, 1:25 pm AG3 - KI6DOZ, <2gatos@...> wrote: I went into the boards and reset the jumpers 180 degrees. Checked the connections and powered up. Checked SWR and sent code using another radio to listen for the signal. It transmitted without any problems. Life is good! I like this small radio out in the field. cheers,? 73 |
X1M not transmitting - repair needed
Have a X1M which has been upgraded to Pro. Had not been used for over a year and now is not transmitting. Various post indicate a transistor failure. I am not able to do the repairs, is there anyone who could do the repair? I am in Goleta, California. Thanks It's weird being the same age as old people Gato Viejo, raton tierno KI6DOZ |
X1M Repair Question
Hi all,
I have an original x1m that was upgraded to a pro. However, now it doesn't come on. I thought it was because I had a bad new pro faceplate but looking back at my notes it looks like I did get the radio to boot up with a new pro face plate. I checked briefly too and it doesnt appear to come up via CAT either.? When i turn the power knob I hear the click of the power supply come on but nothing.? Any ideas on where to start focusing my attention to look at? Thanks |
Re: Serial cable for X1M.
I bought this one in 2021: ?? And have it working with a X1M and older PI2.? I had a DB9 connector from junk box (let me know if need picture of the pinout);? I also wired a PTT to the DB9 to facilitate manual tuning (ZM-2). 73 --david K2DW On Mon, Jul 10, 2023 at 12:35?PM Randy.AB9GO <randy.ab9go@...> wrote:

Serial cable for X1M.
Randy.AB9GO
Hello everyone,
I recently purchased an X1M but it did not come with the USB cable. What cable is suitable for this?? Can I use a g90 cable and replace the 3.5 mm plug with a DB9 connector or is there something better?? Does it use 3.3 or 5 volt signaling? Thanks, randy.ab9go@... XPA20 Amplifier anyone?
Hi,
I don't have an X1M, but I have just got the XPA20 which I think was designed to go with it. Has anyone here owned or used this amplifier? It powers up, and I can flick through the menues - I have downloaded the user guide. What I don't know, is what it requires on the "PTT" jack to switch from rx to tx. It appears to be a four wire 3.5mm jack socket. I'm guessing that it will just require a grounding on one of the connections, but it would be good to know before I brick it! Can anyone help me, please? (I am hoping to use it with other QRP radios) Many thanks, Adrian |
Firmware where
Hi, since years I did not use the X1M. Now back in HB9 - checked all.? Firmware is X1MPRO V1.024 USA from March 3.2014 Is there a newer one eg. on Github or elsewhere ? Makes 80/40/15m 6 Watts - 30/2017/12m 5 Watts, 10m 2 Watts - this is in the usual Range for X1m? Its possible to copy from a Memo Channel to VFO ? TNX Erich |
X1M Pro Display
I have an X1M that came with the OLED Pro display.? The display recently started to have a minor but annoying issue.? The "F1" button which controls "tuning speed" and the "F2" button which controls "mode" seem to have linked in some manner.? When I press the "F1" button to cursor from khz to 10khz to 100khz..etc moves the cursor but it also changes the mode (LSB, USB,CW).? Example- If my frequency is set at 14.250.000 USB and the frequency display cursor has the "0" to the left of the decimal point underlined, the cursor will move to the left under the "5" but it will change my mode from USB to either LSB or CW.? I removed the OLED "pro" display and put the original green LCD display in its place and the radio and display control work as they should.
If anyone has an X1M Pro that is a basket case or a working Pro display, I would be interested in replacing my display.? You can contact me directly at WD4KDN@.... 73 Andy? W4KDN (note- the gmail address was secured before obtaining my vanity call) |
