Re: UFO vid

Greetings Captain Ron and All,
I can see why ya found it by "accident". = Those darn trainwreck videos had me hooked for nearly half an hour before I remembered that you said to skip way ahead! Those things just never seem to get old. Sometimes ya gotta wonder if some people don't get paid to be so darn stupid. They certainly prove my personal theory that Zombies are living among us and getting their Thirty Seconds Of Fame every day, all thanks to YouTube! LOL

I like the appearance of the thing. It's got that TRANSFORMERS type look to it. (real source???) The dramatic emergence was very cool! --- But all of those open lattice areas and missile&bullet catchers would seem to me to make it a weak design for any sort of a combat craft. . . . Still, the shock&awe factor of its appearance on "standard" (un MJ-12 educated) troops would certainly give it one heck of a First Strike edge! . . . Re: Project Orion Battleship

Greetings All,
Yeah Capt Ron, ya might just have got me to trade in the old "Swampgas" for one of those monsters! LOL

You're right, Terry, A GREAT book! That is one of the things I love about these Dream Machines. = The Back Story! --- These guys weren't just a bunch of Mad Scientists playing with nuclear fueled toyz. (Something darn near every site you visit loves to totally freak out about!) These guys had SO MANY details fully worked out that this baby really could have gotten us to MARS --> IN THE 70s!!! . . . Yeah, I know. The Military Brass Hats got a ~ tad ~ carried away with her nuke payload, but DAMN! these guys had Shaped Charge Nukes for propulsion and ENERGY WEAPONS using that same idea figured out!!! (The Casaba Howitzer = well worth a look see!)
I fully believe that if they had built this girl in space rather than purpose a ground launch and cut the weapons loadout WE would be halfway to the STARS!

BTW -- While digging around I found an Alt-Hist(SF???) prequel to an "In The Works" novel about the Orion. It sounds pretty interesting but I hate getting hooked by a prequel and not being able to jump right into the book or series. Still, Atomic Age SF and even Alt-Hist is so darn hard to find I might just get it anyway!??

I absolutely LOVE Military Dream Machines from the Atomic Age. Some of them were just so Damn Scary! Yet they ALL always make me wonder -> WHAT IF??? <- !!!
You can find plenty of Very Interesting websites with details and drawings of the once proposed atomic powered Orion Space Battleship from the 1960s (!!!) but if ya want links I'll share them. --- I've chosen this simple Fantastic Plastic model site because it contains plenty of basic details and some darn good images. Take a look at this BEAST and it's list of armaments! She even carried three shuttle/fighters in onboard bays. Yeah, It scared the boogers out of old JFK, but stop a think for just a second. = This thing could not only have opened our way to the planets in the 1960s/70s but put us well on our way to The Stars! . . . AND given us the fire power to kick any Xeno tails that tried to stop us! LOL

Re: Suggested Intro Questions

I reckon I should try and answer them as well for any future members.

1) SF/F & Weird West -- Especially with Humor and Horror added!
2) Definitely BOOKS! Especially a Good Series! But also love movie (series) not found in book form = Tremors, Firefly, Farscape, etc
3) Constantly changing. Currently = Galaxy Outlaws: The Complete Black Ocean Mobius Missions
4) Tough One! -- D Adams, AC Clarke, J Butcher, S Mitchell, D Abnett
5) Currently ATOMPUNK! but I've enjoyed spending time in all of them.
6) Reading (or listening to books on audio) -- Sure wish I could get back into Scratch&Bash model building!
7) Those Twice Damned Xenos and their Big Government lackeys in MJ-12 (LOL)
8) Currently = the USAF UF-O1 ("Swampgas II") Jet-Saucer (see profile image), but the X-20 DynaSoar ain't a bad ride either! (LOL)
9) Colt 1911 .45 cal (keeps working even in Magik Only Zones!) and a USN CPO Cutlass (because sometimes the Old Ways are still the BEST!)?
10) . . . ??? -- How about Quote? = DON'T PANIC!?

Keep It FUN!

Re: BIG Favour Request!

Thanks Capt Ron!
You must have been using one of those new patented Omni-Corp All Purpose, Multi Directional, Guaranteed To Kick Butt, Tekno-Magikal Ice Breakers & Logjam Disrupters on the bow of your ship (THAT will teach me to stick with those old Acme knockoff products! LOL) or maybe ya just threatened those Yahoo Goombas with one BIG Ion Cannon!!! because ~~> MAGIKALLY <~~ both yours and TWO out of four of my post have now found their way onto SF_A's board. = BRAVO-ZULU, Captain Ron!!!?
