going to look at one this week,
hi, sometime this week, I'll be looking at one it will be my first one ever, if i get it. but in the picture, the slide plate appears missing,( it may not be,will find when I inspect it),? and it's out of it's cabinet, (there is a drawer missing), no picture of the cabinet and seller wants to sell separately...................... any suggestions? virginia |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýVirginia,My suggestion is that proceed with caution.?
There¡¯s no need to feel that this is the ¡°only¡± W&W machine out there.?
I feel confident that with patience and diligence you will find a ¡°complete¡± unit. In fact, on some of these websites collectors are winnowing their collections and giving away or selling (at reasonable prices) their sewing machines.?
Over a recent three year period, for example, ?I purchased two D9¡¯s that matched, in every detail, one that I had inherited. However, during the ¡°search¡± phase I reviewed dozens of machines, waiting for the right ones to show up.?
Putting yourself in a position of having to scrounge around for missing parts and pieces can be time consuming and sometimes frustrating. Especially when this is your first one.?
In the case of the major/popular models there were 100¡¯s of thousands produced. A century later there are thousands of them still in good condition. I suggest that you look for one of these.?

Prices of course vary depending where you live. But, $60 for just the head is high to me. I just a W&W No. 9 with pretty good decals, a beautiful treadle table, and a complete set of attachments for $100. Also the fact the seller want to sell the head and treadle table separately just doesn't seem right.
