Belt on and away I go.
The belt arrived I today and got it on and laced up. I used the extra length to make the foot holders on the pedals. I posted a video to my google photos. Since this is my first Wheeler and Wilson, is it supposed to make that much noise? The sound is coming from under the cloth plate. Do I need to adjust something? Also does the knob at the top of the stationary arm screw off? Thanks.? |

Geez, for the price you paid it should have come with a manual!! ;-) =---------------------- paul fox, pgf@... (arlington, ma, where it's 35.2 degrees) |
? Hi. Yes your machine is making too much noise. They are very quite running. I have the very exact machine with the same wooden wheel stop. There must be something loose or coming apart and striking something. The cloth plate comes off very easily for cleaning and oiling with the removal of the four screws. You will also find that there is very little room for the belt to go under the cloth plate and the thickness of the leather needs to be thin. Hopefully once you have the plate off you can determine where the problem is. ? The knob does screw off. It allows the pressure foot to drop out the bottom for changing a spring inside. The sewing machine came with two different tension springs so you could put in a stiffer one if you needed more pressure on the presser foot to hold the material down. To do this you had to also remove the whole arm by removing the screw at the back and lifting it off. ? ? Your mystery item is baffling. Could it have once held a caster that is now missing in that stem piece sticking up? Once flipped around so the caster would rest on the floor and then slid to the left on the rod so the flat flange would hook on the right hand foot peddle to hold it in place, this might then allow the lady to more easily roll the sewing machine around. This is just a guess of course and probably totally wrong. Hopefully someone will have an answer. I'm very curious and would love to know its purpose. ? I've sewn quite a few miles on my machine and a word of advice. Always use good quality thread. Cheap thread will always snare up underneath. I always wrap the upper thread around twice on the tension wheel.
