Re: D9, needs some work…

Re: Introduction
I bought a Wheeler and Wilson treadle and had it serviced by a shop. Now I’m in the process of learning to treadle. Do you have a copy of the manual? On Thu, Oct 31, 2024 at 10:34?AM Suzann Clark via <tygger14=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Introduction
开云体育Hey Suzanne!I just recently got my mother-in-law’s old WW D9 and asking the same questions. There were some good answers in that thread, if you haven’t seen it. ?I haven’t tried to check out any of the links provided yet, because I’m still up to my eyeballs trying to clear out the in-laws estate. ?? Good luck! --Star On Oct 31, 2024, at 11:34?AM, Suzann Clark via groups.io <tygger14@...> wrote:

Introduction
Hello all, I
am Suzann, and I rent an old farmhouse that has a D9 Wheeler and Wilson
treadle in it. I am hoping to be able to fix it up and get it running.
My landlord's daughter-in-law is going to help me. It's been sitting for
years, but is in a cabinet with the treadle, so I am optimistic. I was
hoping to find a manual somewhere. I am hoping that replacing the belt
and cleaning it up and oiling it will fix most of it. Suzann

Re: D9, needs some work…
Some information I collected over the years is that Serial numbers 3,000,000 and above were manufactured by Singer.
as Singer purchased W&W in 1905, they continued to sell the machines marked as W&W for a couple of years prior to
modifying the bed to fit Singer cabinets. Machines made by Singer usually have Singer part numbers on some or most of the parts
while the W&W machines do not have part numbers. |
Re: D9, needs some work…
It is likely that your machine was built in 1902 plus or minus 1 year.

I had a New Family MOP treadle with porcelain wheels. paul =---------------------- paul fox, pgf@... (arlington, ma, where it's 43.2 degrees) |

开云体育2767192Here’s another photo of the throat plate: It definitely says that it is a Wheeler & Wilson, last patent date listed appears to be Aug 2nd 92. ?It also clearly stated that is is a D9.? --Star On Oct 16, 2024, at 7:21?PM, MB Freeman via groups.io <bumby3@...> wrote:

Re: D9, needs some work…
开云体育You may also want to try out a rubber treadle belt, I found a supplier on Etsy.? Also, if you’ve not yet found a source for needles… I use size MY1014 needles in my WW9 and WW8. You can get these in batches of 100 from a couple sources. I’ve used Diamond Needle Supply and also ordered directly from Schmetz. Thread Exchange sells in smaller quantities, or you may find some on eBay. Happy sewing, the WW’s are great little machines!
