Re: wheeler wilson-singer adapter

hi, Mario, perhaps I wrote D9 for an error, due to memory and? sleep.? ?I have only w9, I think, a treadle only,? ?in Italy is not very? common, and? three or four handcrank.
the first I had casually.? ?an ebay auction.??it was cheap then,? and I? didn't know completely wheeler & wilson.? ?but soon I fell in love, and discovered? how? beautiful is embroider with her, with the hand crank too.
the wheeler wilson can embroider without anything
almost by itself, you just have to guide the fabric with your hands, without too many tools. it's also interesting that you don't have to pull the foot bar down, otherwise the thread will break. this is a video of mine, from a series of four. the design is nothing special, but it shows you that even the handcrank can embroider well. the pedal machine, then, is a marvel. here is the link of one of my little video,? they are four:

Re: wheeler wilson-singer adapter

Hi Cristiana,
I saw that in Italy the W&W's are very rare (and even rarer the Singer 9W),so I was surprised that you have both a D9 and a Singer 9W.
Did I understand correctly? Do you have both machines?
Anyway,I can't help you with your request, but,if I may ask you a question,I'd be curious to know if you easily find needles for your machines in Italy (127x1,or,more likely,MY1014).
Greetings
Mario from Rome.

wheeler wilson-singer adapter

MY1014B is?the most suitable needle for general sewing that is still made today.? 1014A has been combined with 1014B on new Groz Beckert needle packaging.? B is light ball (FFG) and A is round point (R).? Groz Beckert lists the needles as FFG, light ball.? SES is another way to express light ball.? SUK is medium ball.

W&W needle size as follows.? #2 = size 9, Nm 65.? #3 = 11/ 75.? #4 = 14/90.? #5 = 16/100.? #6 = 18/110.? #7 = 19/120 or 20/125.? I was able to convert the cotton size in the W&W D9 manual to Singer needle size and then to metric.

Greetings from Central Florida!

If you search MY1014 on the Facebook wheeler and Wilson page, there¡¯s also a discussion about these needles.

Re: W&W D9 Needles Replacement.

Hi Phyllis,
your positive experience with MY1014's reassures me, and comforts me about the breakage of my only 127x1 needle, which was probably as old as the machine.
Congratulations on your wonderful collection, and yes, the W&W's are beautiful, well built, and in my opinion they also have more aesthetic personality than the other brands.
Their cabinets was also much more refined than others. They are treasures to be preserved, and i hope that all those in circulation end up in the right hands.
Here in Europe they are rare and expensive and almost all without cabinet, but I have seen that in the USA you are lucky enough to be able to get someone and at good prices.
I hope to be able to acquire more over time, but now i'm delighted with my D9 and hope I can get it back in great shape.
Regards
Mario

Re: W&W D9 Needles Replacement.

Your English is fine and your question is easily?understood.

My W&W sewing machines are wonderful to use. Although I have several 127x1 needles, I use MY1014 exclusively for my W&W 9s, D9s, Singer 9Ws. These MY1014? needles are stronger than the old 127x1 needles. I have a packet of DBX1 needles, but use?the?MY1014 when sewing.

I also own a a few W&W curved needle and a few W&W 8s,machines and a W&W 6, Singer 10W and Singer 12W102 industrial sewing machines. The late Graham Forsdyke believed the Wheeler & Wilson machines were the Rolls Royce of sewing machines.

Re: W&W D9 Needles Replacement.

Hi Mario,

The MY1014 needles are a good 127x1 substitute.? There are no other substitutes readily available that I'm aware of.?

The DBx1 needle shank is too large to insert in the D9.? It's OK but shorter for the older 9 that used 126x1 round shanked needles and had the fold back bobbin holder.? ?

Jon?

W&W D9 Needles Replacement.

Hello, I'm from Italy so I apologize for my English.
I recently bought my first sewing machine, a D9.
I like it very much, and while cleaning the needle, a 127x1, it broke in my hands.
It's my first machine, I've never used one, and I didn't know the needle was so fragile.
I looked for 127x1 for sale but I only found something in the United States and between shipping and taxes it would cost me too much, and anyway would not be a definitive solution, which can only be the possibility of needles of common diffusion.
So i'd like to know if there is a real alternative that does not affect the proper functioning of the machine.
Reading a discussion,i tought i understood that the possible alternatives would be the MY1014 and DBX1 needles, but i don't understand if these are really 100% compatible, and if these would have with a D9 the same performance as 127x1.
Excluding the bar mod,has anyone extensively tested these needles on a D9 .. or found a definitive solution?
Thanks
Mario

The 120-page catalog does not have individual machine parts. It is a product catalog with some attachments and such.? I bet the Smithsonian will publish the W&W catalog with their other copies.?? I would still be interested in finding original W&W parts lists.

I recommend using the Singer 9w parts catalog for the present.? It is a difficult document because it appears to have poorly photocopied and did not make a good digital representation.? I am in the process of transcribing the Singer 9w parts list with some improvements.? I am photographing the parts and exchanging them for the 19th Century illustrations. The document will also be searchable.?? To make things worse, or better, I am adding appendix sheets that show the same parts of a different design.? I am using the same Singer numbers to make searching these parts easier.? One appendix will show the same screws and other parts on different assemblies.? I have not gone into other machines to see if the same parts were used in them but I have seen some.? Why make new parts when the older ones worked?

So far, the work has been tedious but I am enjoying the accomplishment.? I am hoping the work will make parts identification easier for everyone.?
