Re: NHC: onboard videocam?

As long as it isn't Region 1 encoded it'll play fine.

Jon

I could send you a CD of what I took on my last vacation if you sent me your
address.

There may be a problem though. I know that if I send you a VHS copy, you
wouldn't be able to view it as our formats record differently..but I am not
sure that the digital systems are that different.

'Gift' is the phrase you use. Get a US lister to buy it for you...They can

640 by 480 pixels at 30 frames per second is not great...My digital camera
can do that. Images look rough on a TV screen but if you use Windows movie
maker and once your edit is done save it to your PC as an AVI file. It'll
be
huge, but it'll be the best quality you'll get and you can then ake
compressed versions of it and compare them to find a compromise between
quality and size.
Also, check that you get a PAL version....our TV is 625 line at 25 frames
per second, the States use NTSC which is 480 TVL at 30 fps....

Re: Rear tire width question

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

?
I would hesitate to put a 120/80 on. These bikes are prone to sitting down at the rear and a 120/80 will lower the back more than the stock 130/80.
?
The tyre you want is a 120/90...slightly taller.
?
Either tyre will improve low speed handling because the rolling radius is closer to the front tyre's.
?
Putting a fat rear tyre on will simply bugger up the handling. It will feel wierd tipping into bends because the rear radius is so much bigger than the front's, it'll have significantly LESS grip, especially in the wet, because the LARGER contact patch will have less pressure ( weight) per square inch...And it'll look stupid, like someone fitted a big rear tyre to pretend they have a really powerful engine and never go round corners. ...:-)

As it's the Dutch TT this weekend (on now on Eurosport - yes on the sat not the sunday) here's a classic dutch bikesong for you all. I sang along to it as a teenager while reading the lyrics (do teenagers still do that?) anyway did hear of BSA and Norton and it wasn't until 26 years later that these names began to mean anything! It's been chosen as the best bikesong at the TT last year apparently.

I'm going to collect the Morini today and I think the bill will be about ?500.? Having said that, Alex at NLM says the performance and starting are transformed. I'll then be looking for bits to put together a trials Bantam.? I've got a rusty rolling chassis as a starting point and I know people who can make bits for it if necessary so I'm quite looking forward to the project.? I'd really like to have a go at Red Marley but I don't think it will be next year.? There's a Midlands Classic club who organise a couple of easier hillclimbs with beginners in mind and a broader range of bikes being eligible so Jon and I both fancy trying that next year.

But what better bike to tackle the odd flood than a Beemer traily?

I've long been a convert to the trail bike riding position. My first 250 was
a pukka competition bike with that classic sit-up and beg position and for
urban street use and traffic splitting, there is nothing close. The only
time it falls down if you don't have a screen is above 90, but that Beemer
has one.

Too big for me and too ... er...inelegant looking but understandably one of
the UK's best selling bikes.

Right side driver peg assembly

Ok...So I have decided to go back to the stock footpegs. Issue is I
can't find my right side pegs. (Got the left just no right.) So, I was
looking or hoping someone on here might have a right side assembly
they would sale.

Most importantly I need the arm and the rubber. (I have the brake
lever and all the bolts.)

Email me with what you have, and prices.

Thanks

Re: pipes

As far as I can tell this exhaust/muffler is what I have on my dub.
They have the baffles removed, guy cut the ends off, removed the
baffles, welded the ends back on. Very nice sound and mount to the
stock headers no issues. Personally I want a set of fishpipes, as I
love the older look. BUT, I love the sound and looks of mine...so it
is a toss up.

1 PS = 75 kp¡¤m/s = 0.73549875 kW = 0.9863201652997627 hp (SAE)

So 54 PS is actually 53 bhp. I got a brief peak of 52 BHP on the
dyno but
that figure is well within the tolerances of different dynometers.
The dyno
I used was considered to be conservative according to various
people who had
been on other dyno's before using 'mine' so I think my figure of 51
with a
52 'bump' was close.

If the cams are good for it, the bike might possibly make another
HP or two
above 7400 rpm, which is where my pipes make their maximum on the
W, and the
Dunstall Decibel was after all designed to allow the Triumph twin
to make
power up to 8500...But it would only do that if the motor was
modified with
cams and head work to do that. I don't know if the 7500rpm point on
the W is
dictated by my pipes or the motor but I think at least one person
on this
site dyno'd a Dunstall equipped bike and got...50 bhp...So one
would assume
the motor does 50 bhp. Obviously there will be slight differences
in motors
and measuring equipment and a properly bedded-in motor on an
optimistic dyno
could easily see 54 bhp or PS but on balance 50 bhp is about right.

Jon

Am I missing something here, you said that 50bhp is the roughly the
most you can get but the aftermarket site in Germany says you
can get
54ps, with some of their Silverstone exhausts, isn't 54ps the
same as
54bhp?
