?I usually ride all year round so starting the engine every week shouldn¡¯t be too much of a problem but that is really good to know.?
This bike is a 2000 model with 44,000 kms on the clock. Runs and rides really well. It has a braided hose and after market disk on the front, new clutch and a lot of small cosmetic modifications including front and rear guards, grips and tank pads, indicators and tail light. Suspension and handling is good. Paint is okay.?
The engine and frame are not the best with plenty of corrosion.?
The plan is to do what I can to tidy it up while keeping it rideable. I am not going to restore it. I like it modified. I have owned a few Triumphs that have been similar.?
Any advice is always appreciated and welcomed.?

Hi Tom.? There are small hoses passing down behind the engine, near the swing arm pivot. 2 of them should have plugs. Pull the plugs and see how much fluid comes out. You may have overfilled the oil, if so it will pass thru the breather and into the air filter box. Those tubes are drains for the box.?
Check the engine oil off the centerstand, oil level not more than 1/2 way up the window. This has always worked for me.

For a similar aged W my leak that was difficult to identify
turned out to be the main head gasket. It had perished and
hardened in places. Replacing solved a similar loss of oil. I
would also look behind the Final Drive cover.

If your are thinking of changing to Stainless,? or chrome spokes. I recommend Buchanan's in Azusa, CA. It's what they do.

These rides can go the distance! Some owners sent me videos of their bikes with over 100,000 mi on the clock! I'm in Floriduh so I change before the recommended 3500k mi recommendations.

Also, the W does not eat thru chains, tires, etc but be smooth with takeoffs and accelerations and you'll be good to go. My favorite tires are Michelin Road Classics and with like 5k mi they still look new! For chains, I like DID X-ring. Kawi recommends checking, not adjusting, ever 1600 mi and thousands more than that, with careful cleaning and lubrication the chain has barely gotten out of recommended specs. I ran with 27mm chain slack and feels good to me.

Thanks for the tip. Inspected the entire engine with a flashlight. Base of the cylinders,? and under the stater are totally free from oil.? Lots of very small rocks from my road though. In the spring I'm in Illinois...thus spring I'll switch from dinosaur 15w50 to synthetic 10w40...we'll see if that helps...thx...TM

Some Ws have developed leaks around the oil feed tubes that run through the rear of the cylinders. It can be difficult to spot as the oil collects in the well under the starter motor and does not reach the ground. I'd inspect the jugs very carefully. A dusting of talcum powder can help spot oil residue. Also fish a rag or Q-tip under the starter to see if it comes up wet.
Look at parts 31913 and A on this diagram.?
Good luck. It's a nasty fix so I hope you don't have it. Although on my 2001, I was able to staunch the flow with an oil additive as an alternative to tearing the entire engine down. It didn't stop the bleeding but it slowed it considerably.

Regarding new fork springs and oil, I have Racetech springs and emulators in the front installed in 2016 and new oil replaced in July of 2023.? Can't imagine those would be the problem....?

switch assemblly ? were you changing just the lock barrel or the
complete switch ? I bought a new switch but the cable is way to
short can you tell me where yours came from please ?. Keith
