Re: Handlebar bag for W800
开云体育One bag I did consider was a Cow Hide 4 x 11 inch bag as photo
(not a W). I did not try this as I considered the size and
location not worth the bother. However I do not think that, if it
were carefully fitted, it would cause any serious interference.
The Disk Lock bag is for a Oxford disk lock, nothing special, but
convenient rather than having the disk lock rattling about in a
tank or tail bag. BSc(Eng) CEng MICE MCIWEM On 30/04/2023 16:11, Sam wrote:

Re: Handlebar bag for W800
Thanks Keith! Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any bags with the brand name Disk Lock, might you have a link to the bag in question? Regarding the idea of a roll bag on the front fork under the headlight, my only concern is that it will interfere with that black plastic accordion cover when the front wheel goes over a bump and the shock compressed. Is that a fake worry on my part? -- Sam Malkinson DMD, Cert Perio, FRCD(C), Dip ABPDIS sent from my Google Pixel 5 |

Re: Handlebar bag for W800
开云体育I have tried may options for fitting some sort of bag to the bars and all would cause restriction when turning, particularly near full lock, or restrict the view of the dials. The only bag that was of any use that did not cause any restriction was a Disk Lock bag measuring 10x8x4cm. I came to the conclusion that, apart from a possible Fork Roll Bag beneath the headlamp, the only option is to look at the rear end for any bag/case location.? Anything on the bars would end up being removed for safety. Keith W650 1999 66,000 miles

Handlebar bag for W800
Hi folks,
First time poster here, so please be gentle. I recently acquired a 2022 W800, which I know isn't a W650 but as far as I can see the overall design is similar. I'm looking for a handlebar bag. I was curious what other people here (both W650 users and W800 users, if there are others) have been using? I've attached some pictures with some measurements. There's a Quad Lock on my handlebars at the moment, but I assume it can just be moved closer to the handle to accommodate a bag. Any help would be most appreciated, thanks! Sam |

Buy a set of JIS screw drivers.?? One of the best things I've ever done in my tool collection. I was skeptical at first,? but now I'm a true believer.?? When you can put a Phillips looking screw onto a JIS driver and hold it sideways without if falling off the the end of the driver,? you'll know what I mean. Bob

Also, one thing I wish someone had told me back in 2001. Use the screwdriver that comes in the tool kit. They may look like phillips screws but they aren't. They are JIS—Japanese Industrial Standard— screws. If the screws aren't already rounded out, they will be if you use a regular phillips screwdriver. That's one reason why I replaced the carb bowl screws.

Re: Bought a W650
It's been so many years I can't recall the results of changing the jets and needles, modifying the airbox, etc. I bought my 2000 new in 2001. Most owners have reported improvements. The stock needles look like roofing nails.?
I'm sure a good search will yield relevant threads. Dennis Guggemos did a pretty good job writing up his experiences back in 2003, found among the files: /g/W650Riders/files/Carburetor%20Jetting/Jetting%20with%20the%20Factory%20Pro%20CRB-K65-1.0%20jet%20kit |
Re: Bought a W650
A few things I've done. Added a windshield, changed the mirrors to round ones, replaced the stock turn signals to ones that look like Lucas style, put on a rear luggage rack and side luggage brackets, reinforced the rear fender, replaced the stock carb jets and needles, changed the rounded out JIS screws on the carb float bowls to allen screws, added a relay to the horn to increase its power, painted the headshell black because the chrome had gotten damaged...I've probably forgotten a few things.?
Also, after 21 years and 48,000 miles, and damage from salty upstate NY roads, I stripped the clear coat off the engine casings and polished them, removed minor rust spots on the frame and repainted them.? |

开云体育No link. Just a after market bar. Available many places. Here is a photo of my standard high bar showing the step. I think I got the shims from a bicycle website.? Good luck.
