The hand operated advance/retard lever was common on Brit bikes before the development of the spring loaded auto-advance mechanism. You set it retarded for starting, minimising kick-backs and ensuring a slow, lazy tick-over from cold, and advanced it for fast running. You could also retard the ignition to slog up hills, which was ideal if you were pulling a chair with the family on board!

BSA bicycles were the catalogue versions of
Raleighs, towards the end. My first 'new' bike was a BSA with dynamo lighting

Just got back off my holiday (BSAOC rally in
Belgium) to find that my emails from Yahoo groups have been bouncing.?
What is this alleged bikini/beach photo?
?
I also came back to find that I am being offered
the opportunity to buy?the Starfire/3ta that I recently posted pictures
of.? This probably means that the TY250, Morini and the Bantam will be up
for sale very shortly - selling the W650 is not an option, of course - the
fact it is totally reliable and beautiful is what enables me to indulge my
more foolish bike buying urges!
?
Saw a W650 parked up just before the Dartford
tunnel on our return journey.? I think it was a maroon/cream one but
didn't get close as we were just passing.? Gorgeous sunshine as we
crossed the channel (Dunkirk-Dover) but torrential rain by the time we got
home.? We were fairly lucky with the weather, only a couple of days when
it rained (and we were in a cabin, not a tent - hooray!) - and there were lots
of interesting bikes at the rally too.? Also a three-wheeler BSA car and
a couple of folding BSA bicycles......Jon's mum has just bought me a folding
BSA bicycle for ?8 so I was quite interested to see some others.

Are we getting a summer this year?

This is the info I got from my husband.
Connect the
throttle sensor setting adapter between the sensor wire
connectors.
start engine
operate engine at idle
speed
loosen sensor mounting screws
adjust sensor mounting
position to set the sensor output voltage to standard and tighten the
mounting screws.
He actually only adjusted my throttle not the
sensor.

5,000,is too conservative. Happily, the throttle sensor is
adjustable. Naturally, one does not want to go to far with this as
it may provoke "knock." Does any have any experience adjusting this
thing for a better advance curve?
