Re: Yamaha RD 350 Content

As our lines aren't doing so well..its raining, DSL is coming and going, I went back out and tried to start the orange RD (I know the purple one has a bad piston), it wouldn't even sputter without the battery..put in old NS battery for contact, jumper cables to Venture..first kick, got a couple of pops..should drain the carbs and get some fresh gas in there, but I try again, 2 kicks it runs for a couple of seconds, I am on a roll..after about 6 starts, it runs, idles right along..gradually feed it throttle..it revs up, then crispy pop corn popper running.

The tranny was low on oil, there is some baffle noise, but engine mechanics sound fine so far. Previous owner heard noises from engine, these bikes were hard on clutch cages, I may have to get it warmed up to find out if that's what he heard.

Once I send this, I am going out and taking the battery out of the NS and ride the RD.

Hey Grant & all, I've done a little more investigation on those "POSH" W1 type "Full" exhausts at YouTube and find they seem to be available as slip-ons over the factory stock header pipes, which you simply cut- see here; ( and I will attempt to post a second link for the same page translated by Google, but it may not work):

The "PCM" or "CA" notes on these Japanese exhausts appear to refer to Stainless Steel. But the W1 type isn't SS, it seems.

Hi Ruari, I saw you posting about the posh exhaust system, from the
info I have found on Japanese web sites the posh comes as an entire
system with a new single wall header pipe which will blue, the cost is
about 106,000 yen last I saw. If you want anything from Japan talk to
the people at Windbell motorcycles in North Van. Their # is

they said they could import most parts from Japan. I live in surrey if

If you do have a need contact me offline as I have been routinely deleting all MC group correspondance and concentrating on my Lotus 7 clone group due to the high volume of mail???
