Prime opens the gas flow to the carbs without the vacuum that is required when set to on or reserve.? So, no, you didn't bring it on yourself.? It sounds like your floats are stuck or a needle are not going back up to shut off when the floats bowls are full.? The firs thing I would try is just tap the bowls and see if they unstick.? It's likely only one bowl that's stuck.? The less likely situation is that a float is sinking because it has developed a hole in it. It happens.? If you take the bottom of the float bowls off you will be able to quickly determine the problem. If yo do that you may want to replace the stock screws with hex screws.? Easier to take of in the future.
