Hi Rauri

I also have that type of filter at the end of the crankcase hose. However I have fitted a nipple in the middle of the top with a small rubber hose going to a T junction on the fuel cock vacuum? line to the? 2 carbarrators ventures . The vacuum created in the carb-ventures is more than enough to scavenge the inflamable crankcase residue vapor coming up from? hot crankcase expansion gasses.and also keep the petti cock flange open., during an engine run. That should solve the problem, check also hoses for tightness? and porous decay.? Has anyone in the group fitted a kickstarter and carbs to a W800, thinking of buying a secondhand 800 and doing it, if it's?possible? ?

Hi Pete,

?

As I recall (been a while) I used a 30-45 degree angled hose about 3-5¡± long from the crankcase outlet and put a pod filter on the end similar but not identical to this one:

Despite the filter the oily vapour came through and made everything dirty and oily beneath and around it.

HI Ruari

Did you put a breather filter in the end of the crankcase breather outlet after removing airbox? A hose goes from the case to the box which scavenges bypass cylinder wall gas and vaporized oil to be burn.t?in the cylinders. If not, then that could account for the mess.sucked onto the pods, It can't come from within. I also forgot to mention that to Howard, hope he,s reading. Pods have 34mm inlet rubber if I recall correctly?

Howard, I tried the pods but had already increased the jetting so

made no changes there.?

I went back to the airbox though, because there was always oily vapourized dirty crap?
coming from the pods all over my engine casing and starter motor, ?and I noticed zero performance or noise difference.

?Hello members:

Just got a 2000 W 650 with 2000 some odd miles.? Been sitting a very long time but looks great.? Went ahead and did brake jobs on front and rear, oil change and filter serviced the chain and pulled the carbs off for a cleaning in the machine of my local shop.? It would run only on starter fluid, good sign though.? So I really do not want to put back on the stock air box set up again when I reinstall the done carb, can anyone recommend the right jetting if I choose to attempt just using pods instead and leaving the stock air cleaner off.? Has anyone ever done it, or know anyone who successfully was able to transition these to pod filters?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.? Looking for jet size and type of pods if anyone has been successful at this.

Sincerely,

Howard
