Re: High Performance YSS Gas shocks - Group Buy

Hi Sujit,

I did look at the Ohlins but discounted them as they are not available with a chrome spring and have no Rebound and Compression adjustment, only Preload.
The YSS offer all the options, including 10mm height adjustment for the same price as the Ohlins, high build quality and look correct on the W650.

Cheers
Rick.

Hi Rick,

Nice idea, and I am interested in better performing shocks for a W650.

Have you ever tried the Ohlins KA224 shocks? They are typically available at the same price (see eBay, about US$650 shipped to the US).

How do these compare to the Ohlins or even the entry level YSS or Hagons?

Hi All,
I have something new for you. If you follow what I do you'll know I'm always looking to improve the brakes and suspension of the W. I've done the front suspension and big brake kit and have finally found an option for the rear suspension that is the best bang for buck.
Although the usual suspects like Hagon or Bitubo are an improvement on the terrible OEM shock absorbers, I wanted something that I could actually adjust and something with better performance. As always it's hard to keep the costs down and relative to the value of a W, it's easy to just splurge on Nitron or Ohlins!

Anyway, I have managed to find a source for custom sprung YSS RG362 piggyback gas shocks at a discount. These are made for me with a chrome spring to suit 70kg to 100kg riders (17nm - 25nm). The chrome spring is an additional cost item but I like it as it looks correct on a W. You can see my mule in the attached pics with the shocks flipped around for a better suited look.
These shocks are a fantastic improvement in feel, handling and comfort. Independently adjustable for Compression, Rebound and Preload they make riding on bumpy roads a pleasure.
The shocks are made to order and have a couple weeks lead time.
The shocks are ?595 a set. If I get enough people placing orders I can get a better price. I am in the UK and happy to ship abroad but bear in mind shipping and tax might eat up the discount.
If you are interested in a set email to rick@...

I need one more order and I can get a better price for everyone.

Cheers
Rick.
