Interesting, Greymouth, NZ?and Bandon, Oregon
are very similar. Look at the Google earth view and you'll see we are on a river that empties into the ocean too.?
Right about where you have that big oblong thing
(what the heck is that anyway?) at the mouth of the river, we have a
lighthouse.
It looks like we are both about the same distance
from the equator. I wonder if the weather is similar? Ours is mild with a
temperature average around 40F - 60F all year. Being on the coast?we get
some big storms in the winter, though.

Google earth is getting pretty interesting with all
the pictures and links put right on the map. I just spent some time looking at
the sights. It's certainly a beautiful place "down" there. Very intense
green.

The highest mountain in the southern alps is
Mount Cook at about 12,000ft??
It is spring here, ?so hope to get in some
warmer riding as I have only owned the bike through the winter.
