Re: Today...

James,

When you ride through the canyons to the PCH 1, you have to make a stop at "Neptune's Net" another Motorcycle hangout and they have the freshest and best seafood in the area, it's right before the Ventura County line. You probably know that already. Sure sounds like you are having a lot of fun riding planned. :) We live in Simi Valley and are pretty much surrounded by canyons, however since I'm still a fairly new rider I have to take some of them slow.

I usually drive to Torrance (Alpine Village) by San Pedro to buy my german goodies.

Anita,

There are roads I would really like to share with my friends, Ortega Hwy
into Elsenore, Mullholland HWY and Mulholland DR (similar names, but
different rides..the Drive is beautiful at night, you see the lights from
the valley and then the city..great view at the lookout over the Hollywood
Bowl).

Decker Canyon Road and Deer Canyon Road near Oxnard. The Pacific Coast Hwy,
the road through Napa...I lived in Los Angeles (well Riverside, then San
Pedro) for 7 years and enjoyed many great road trips there.

James,

Let me know when you are in the area. Dave (my worst half) and I would love
to meet up with you. We do have great roads here, although I hate riding on
the freeways here. Aside from the horrid rain grooves, we have potholes and
cracks from previous earthquakes. I miss my Autobahn :) We are riding on
the 20th to Monterey along the coast for the Laguna Seca Moto GP, it should
be a nice ride. Yeah, Dave had to store his Thruxton for a 1 1/2 years while
he was in Afghanistan and he was worried about the condition it would be in.
He put it on a Motorcycle lift, drained the carburator, took out the battery
and added stey-bil in the tank. When he returned this May his beloved
Thruxton was just as he left it.

Aloha Anita,

Mike lives in Hawthorne, but the W is at his depot in South Gate..the last
time I talked to him about it, he still hadn't taken it off the
Palette..it
arrived in LA (actually, San Diego) in Jan of this year..and it is still
on
a palette.

He does ride the CB 900 C, that's good, because it is bad for a bike to
just
sit-up..but it would be great if the bikes were both ridden occassionally.
I am hoping to do a trip, at least one, this year, out west..California
Coast or Grande Canyon, with Mike maybe, but I also have a couple of good
riding buddies who mentioned that they were interested.

This would be cool. It really is a treat, some even congratulate me on the
great restoration job (haha). What area in LA does he live? My husband had
mentioned he has seen one some years ago at the Hansen Dam Ride (Pasadena,
CA).

I have trying to get my son Mike to ride the W around, I am sending him
this
as it just might give him incentive to be one of only two Ws at the Rock
Store. The Rock Store is where I saw my first ever MV Augusta, and
Muholland HWY was the first place I ever went 150 MPH (that was on a
friends
FZR 1000).

Haven't seen another W here in the Los Angeles area either. We ride almost
every Sunday to the Rockstore in Malibu, Cali, where you see pretty much
every kind of motorcycle. Jay Leno always rides up with bizarre looking
bikes or cars. Every time I ride up on the W, people just gather around
it
because they never seen one and most have no idea what it is. Matter of
fact
my husband was a little upset (haha) everyone is checking out my bike
and
not his pristine cafe racer 04 Triumph Thruxton.

making them again!
