Had to take my W in for its MOT test this morning, so while I was
waiting I took the Versys demonstrator out for a blat.
Wow, very nice bike. Certainly a lot quicker than the W even if
lacking the lovely gruntyness; but what really hit me was just how
planted it felt on the road. Absolutely rock steady. And the single
front disc is in a whole different league.
I was very enthused, but as I don't have ?4395 (what a bargain!) to
hand I was very pleased that my W still felt pretty damn good when I
got back on it. The W seems tiny in comparison though; I felt so
much more visible on top of that flame orange Versys!
If I can ever afford a second bike again I reckon that'll be it.

This I take issue with. The 650Rs power delivery is one reason I
bought it. Feels like 2 singles grunting out of a corner. Rarely do
I take it to 8500 RPM (max hp). Usually it's ridden like the W, just
add 1000 rpm to everything.
You need to ride one before you flag it with the generalizations.
It's not a buzzy ER5.
