NEW - POTA Watch v22.6
POTA Watch v22.6 is posted and available for download in the Files > Program Files section of this forum. The only change is adding a Find/Search feature to the POTA Log Repair Utility app. It allows you to search the log file for any criteria such as callsign, park, band, etc. No change to the POTA Watch itself except updating the version number. 73, Ed - W4ELP

ACLog and HRD
6
Trying to use W4ELP to get ACLog (normal daily log) to talk to HRD Log (normal daily log). ACLLog works fine with WSJTX . Would be a convenience if it would coordinate with HRD Log as well. I think at one point I had it working (did a RTTY contest out of DM780 and the ACLog contest log). AC log does not see the HRD log data when it goes in the ALE window and I think I recollect that it should. I am getting this error message but it seems trivial: Have tried starting W4ELP both before and after starting ACLog and it doesn't seem to matter. What am I missing (other than a few dozen IQ points that I probably had when I was younger)??? TU Karl K0CIE -- Karl Kaukis K0CIE

New Version POTA Logger for activators
POTALog 4.0 is ready for download. Major change is in selecting and saving parks for activations. The POTALog program operation is mostly unchanged. Just some cleanup of the main window. The logger now uses Park Finder 2.0 which is included in the installation. With Park Finder, you can find a list of parks within any specified distance of virtually any location such as city, address or park. Lists can be made and saved for future use which should be handy for anyone planning a road trip to activate different parks. You can also search for parks by park number or a partial name. If you had installed Park Finder 1.0, the new Park Finder will delete old files and convert any park list to the new format. There could very well be some bugs or things I have missed, so please advise of any problems or questions. 73, Ed - W4ELP

New POTA Watch version 22.4
Here's another update to the POTA Watch program. It no longer requires using email or 3rd party programs to send spots when you log a contact. The spots now go directly to the POTA site. Spotting is now more reliable and accurate.

NAQP RTTY
5
Trying to set up NAQP RTTY to run N3FLP and HRD/dm780/HRD Logbook. Setup works fine with the AC general log. Super guidance from the operating manual. Kudos for that. When I open a new N3FJP NAQP contest log (same startup sequence - HRD-N3FJP-W4ELP) and with same API and with all appropriate boxes relating to contesting checked on the W4ELPHotKeys tab) I get a blinking window "ContestMode OFF". Can turn that window off by selecting a contest on the HRD log tab for contests but doesn't do much to get the process moving. Tried NAQP there and messed with the exchange windows there but nothing really gets the process moving. N3FJP (primary log) is not seeing input from HRD log and vice versa. Que pasa??? Running so sweet with the AC general log but the contest log de nada. Would appreciate any sage advice here - TU 73 Karl K0CIE -- Karl Kaukis K0CIE

New version of POTA Watch available
7
POTA Watch v22.0 has been posted and is available for download. (Files > Program Files) A number of logging errors were discovered in the previous version. These caused multiple park names to be attached, missing park locations (like US-VA) and wrong length counts on modes in the adif log file. Also in some cases, frequency was logged as KHz instead of MHz as required by the adif standard. Some of thesee errors could cause problems importing the POTA log into another logging program such as N3FJP or Ham Radio Deluxe. i b elieve these have all been corrected. So if you're using POTA Watch, please update to v22.0 now. A new program is included - a POTA Log Repair Utility which scans a log file, finds and corrects many of the above errors. It also allows manual editing of log records. As always, please report any problems or questions about the new version. 73, Ed - W4ELP

Error messages
4
I installed this program today. I'm running HRD and for the CQ WPX RTTY contest, I'm using the N3FJP software. At first, it integrated nicely and worked out of the box. Then I wanted to change the look up method to QRZ so I checked the option, and entered my credentials. Now when I start the program, a box pops up that says "Session ID Request Username/password incorrect" (the QRZ information is 100% correct) and when I click OK, it appears to load the program but then a box keeps popping up and going away over and over that says "Contest mode off". It does this until I right click on the task bar and force it shut. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times but now it doesn't work. I guess I shouldn't have messed with the look up settings. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Even though I've reinstalled it, it seems that the uninstall for it isn't up to par, as it doesn't remove all data associated with the file.

Groups.io Reverification Request
3
This is to let you know that if you receive a request from Groups.io to reverify your membership, it's legit and not spam or phishing. If you receive one of these requests, please do the reverification. Apparently a Groups.io email server got flagged by a spam service as sending spam. Not from our group I'm sure, but the management is randomly checking some members' accounts. Those who receive a request and do not respond will be removed from Groups.io. Out of our 400+ members, there were only a relative few who received requests. If you didn't receive a request, you're good - don't worry about it. For those who did, you have until Feb. 11th to reverify. Sorry for any inconvenience. 73, Ed - W4ELP

POTA Watch Program Update
3
The POTA Watch program has been updated to v20.4. New feature is the ability to set alarm for activity on a specific band or bands. This helps POTA hunters watch for "rare" band activations such as 160 or 60 meters.

W4ELP Lookup Progeram Update
10
Hi All, W4ELP Lookups v9.18 is posted in the Program Files section and ready for download. No big changes in this one - mostly cleaning up some minor items. Added code to gracefully exi the app by closing the Setup window. Fixed failure to create folder for S.I.G. member data when needed. Changed S.I.G. comments to not overwrite existing comments. Added code to automatically hide tabs in Logbook ALE if not the active window. Keeps it a smaller footprint on monitor. NOTE - I LIKE THIS, BUT IF IT IS A PROBLEM FOR YOU, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I'LL MAKE IT AN OPTION OR REMOVE IT. 73, Ed - W4ELP

Just wanted to pass along thanks for a great piece of software. After last years failed attempt, I was successful this year in running three computers all digital using HRD and logging to N3FJP.. Everything worked great using W4ELP. Thanks, Steve VA3FLF/KM4FLF
