开云体育Ed,I’ll do that this week. ?I finished my power generator box. ?I’ll be testing it out tomorrow and I’m planning to go out to a local park Tuesday and watch a friend of mine, Marty N4AMW setup his POTA station. ?Marty worked 1,013 contacts at a bonus POTA park a week ago. ? I’ll try to take some pictures of my generator box and send to you. Best 73, Buz, WA5AMM? On Mar 3, 2024, at 3:29?PM, Ed - W4ELP <w4elp.ed@...> wrote:

New Program - Park Finder
"Park Finder" has been added to the Files > Program Files of this forum.? It is for POTA enthusiasts, to provide a list of parks near any specified location. It uses the complete worldwide POTA Park List and can work from your coordinates, address, city or postal code.
As always, please report any problems or questions. Hope you find it helpful, especially if yu're a POTA activator. 73, Ed - W4ELP |

Hi Ed,
The anti-virus folks were back to me very quickly. Confirmed it was a false positive and your installer package was "whitelisted". Webroot has not had a false positive problem for me in over a year. The package hash value is in their system now This was first time I have tried this program and will have a bit of a learning curve figuring out what files I need for which purpose... looks like the online help file is a version behind, but probably very usable. Thanks, Jack - KD4IZ |
Re: POTA Watch update - ANOTHER new version today!
Thanks Jack. The program is clean but since it's not digitally signed, some anti-virus programs will try to flag it. On Sat, Feb 24, 2024, 12:44?PM Jack Spitznagel (KD4IZ) <kd4iz@...> wrote:

Ed,
Downloaded and attempted an install this morning. It did open but these alarms went off when the program opened: This particular antivirus/antimalware suite has been very good about false positives, but every once in a while one does leak through. I will submit these so the false detection is remediated. Thanks, Jack Spitznagel KD4IZ |
Re: NAQP RTTY
So glad to hear it. Thanks for letting me know. Good luck! 73, Ed - W4ELP On Sat, Feb 24, 2024, 7:57?AM K0CIE <karl@...> wrote: Got it.? Thank you.? Have the AC contest program running and flashing is gone - did not originally see the contest? mode box on the MD780 ALE screen.? |
Re: NAQP RTTY
Karl - I installed the latest version of N3FJP's NAQP logger and it seems to be working ok with HRD and the W4ELP program. I did at first have some trouble with the "Contest Mode Off" message flashing on and off. I had to click the "Contest Mode" box in DM780 several times to hit the right time window to get it to "stick" on. Then it all was ok. You can also toggle the contest mode witrh CTRL-SHIFT-C.?
It was acting really wierd at first until I realized that I had 2 instances of the Lookup program running.? Note that the NAQP exchange requires name and state. You need to put both of them in the Rcvd Exchange box with a space between. Example: Ed VA. They should immediately copy over to N3FJP in the correct fields. At any rate, it should work ok, especially if you're using the current HRD version. I'll keep a close eye on the forum and try to respond quickly if you still have trouble.? 73, Ed - W4ELP |
NAQP RTTY
Trying to set up NAQP RTTY to run N3FLP and HRD/dm780/HRD Logbook.? Setup works fine with the AC general log.? Super guidance from the operating manual.? Kudos for that.
When I open a new N3FJP NAQP contest log (same startup sequence - HRD-N3FJP-W4ELP) and with same API and with all appropriate boxes relating to contesting checked on the W4ELPHotKeys tab) I get a blinking window "ContestMode OFF".? Can turn that window off? by selecting a contest on the HRD log tab for contests but doesn't do much to get the process moving.? Tried NAQP there and messed with the exchange windows there but nothing really gets the process moving.? N3FJP (primary log) is not seeing input from HRD log and vice versa. Que pasa???? Running so sweet with the AC general log but the contest log de nada.? Would appreciate any sage advice here - TU 73? Karl K0CIE -- Karl Kaukis K0CIE |
POTA Watch update - ANOTHER new version today!
Thanks to my missing some things that should have been obvious, and to Mike, W7OSG, for calling them to my attention, there's another new version (v22.1) posted and ready for download.?
My apologies for any inconvenience and for having to download so many times. Groups.io/g/W4ELP > Files > Program Files > POTA Watch v22.1 Setup 73, Ed - W4ELP |
Re: New version of POTA Watch available
Mike - From your screen shot, it looks like the program is saving your callsign ok which is good. I found that selecting a log file, the file path data was being inserted into the TX Power box. That's now fixed as well as the fields that display "ERROR".?
I think these problems would only show up in new installations where no "ini" file had been written yet. In my testing and development, I have neglected to simulate a totally new install, so these bugs had escaped me. I will compile and post V22.1 very shortly and will post an announcement. Thanks for calling this to my attention! 73, Ed - W4ELP |
Re: New version of POTA Watch available
开云体育Okay, that would be a problem for sure. After inputting the data, are you leaving the options window with the “Save & Restart” button? I’m going to simulate a totally new install here and see if I can replicate it. 73, Ed – W4ELP ? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mike Cooper

Re: New version of POTA Watch available
开云体育Hi Mike, If there’s no data that’s been put in those fields yet (like on first use), it will show Error. That’s okay, just means you haven’t made those settings yet. ? That’s something I need to fix for the next release – to just have blank fields and not show Error. ? I’m not sure what you mean by “the options won’t stay put”.? Can you clarify that for me, please? ? 73, Ed – W4ELP ? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mike Cooper

New version of POTA Watch available
POTA Watch v22.0 has been posted and is available for download. (Files > Program Files) A number of logging errors were discovered in the previous version. These caused multiple park names to be attached, missing park locations (like US-VA) and wrong length counts on? modes in the adif log file. Also in some cases, frequency was logged as KHz instead of MHz as required by the adif standard. Some of thesee errors could cause problems importing the POTA log into another logging program such as N3FJP or Ham Radio Deluxe. i b elieve these have all been corrected. So if you're using POTA Watch, please update to v22.0 now.
A new program is included - a POTA Log Repair Utility which scans a log file, finds and corrects many of the above errors. It also allows manual editing of log records. As always, please report any problems or questions about the new version. 73, Ed - W4ELP |
