Re: Link to Google Drive for new files
You could ask and see what they will do with the access.? I think they might apply it to next year's dues. But, you will need to double check on that. Lou WA5LOU On Tue, Apr 11, 2023 at 10:33?AM Ed - W4ELP <w4elp.ed@...> wrote: Hi Lou, |
Re: Link to Google Drive for new files
Hi Lou,
Thanks for the input. I sure don't want to have to be asking for donations - this is supposed to be a free forum, but I may have to do that. We currently have 353 members, so around $1 per member per year shouldn't break anybody. I think the actual cost is actually $220 per year, or $20 per month minimum. There is a sponsorship option that can be opened for the forum to allow members to contribute. I need to check the fine print again, but I think once the "account" meets either the $20 monthly or $220 yearly, we are automatically upgraded to the next level which does provide the featuers we need.? But I'm not sure what hapens to the excess funds when we go over the threshold amount. I definitely don't want any funds coming back to me and I don't want members to contribute more than nexessary. Under the new rules, the free version is just pretty much a mailing list and for new groups is limited to 100 members. But since we were formed before 2021, we are grandfathered in for now. |
Re: Link to Google Drive for new files
ED!? Have you thought about going out to us, the group members, for donations to cover the $240 per year cost?? This has worked well with other groups.? You could poll the group on this.? What think? New Release of W4ELP Lookup
W4ELP Lookup v9.17 has been released and is available in the Files > Program Files section of the forum. Note that this will be a link to Google Drive rather than the exe file itself.
Several improvements have been made, especially in the S.I.G. (Special Interest Groups) area. Among other things, a POTA feature has been added which adds information to the comments box of HRD/DM780 if you enter a callsign that's currently activating a POTA park. Also fixed some problems with right-click grabbing of callsigns and contest exchanges as well as dupe checking. As always, please report any problems or bugs. 73, Ed - W4ELP |
Link to Google Drive for new files
There have apparently been some changes in Groups.io recently that are impacting this forum.? The free version of Groups.io has become more restrictive and I am currently unable to upload any new program files.?
Fortunately we are grandfathered in and can retain the "Files" section of the forum and any existing ones. For new ones, I can store them on Google Drive and post links in the Files section. So don't be alarmed when you don't see the actual exe file, but a link to Google Drive. Sorry about this change, but the cost to provide features that we had a few months ago is now $240 per year and I can't afford that. The alternative might be to create my own web site. For now, it appears that we can continue the forum. Hopefully no further restrictions will be imposed. 73, Ed - W4ELP |
Re: Labels Missing
Ed,
Yes I am running same version of HRD? .340 on both computers and I know they both were restarted once or twice during WFD because I had an API error and had to reboot. I will reload W4ELP on the weird computer today and see if I can recreate the anomaly. BTW, I had a Raytheon engineer tell me once that if something happens once it is an anomaly, twice it becomes a feature and we charge you for it.. hi! Let you know, Steve VA3FLF |
Re: Labels Missing
Steve, I've been trying but can't duplicate your problem so far, although I think I've seen it happen once or twice here.
Did you try a restart of the Lookup proogram? Or restarting DM780 then restart Lookup? Restarting Lookup or both usually clears things like this. Are both computers running the same HRD version??? Can you repeat the problem on the same computer? I don't think there's any setting that would cause this. |
Re: Labels Missing
Looking into it Steve. Let you know asap. Thanks for reporting. On Tue, Feb 7, 2023, 6:14 PM Steve R via <oldjavadrinker=[email protected]> wrote:

I just am getting around to writing this from WFD. I used two computers and rigs for WFD. As far as I could tell, I thought that I had both computers set with the same settings. Take a look at the attached photos. VA3FLF |

Re: Two new apps
KB9JD - Thanks for the feedback. I'll see if I can duplicate your problem. Once you have worked a station, a history file is created named "History KB9JD.txt if I had worked you. Each time you enter a call, the program looks for a history file with that guy's callsign. If none is found, it does a lookup and is supposed to start a new file. On each subsequent QSO with the same guy, the notes from that new QSO are added to the existing history file. You can change the name where it appears in the header of the history file, but not in the file name.
On a new station, after the lookup, you can change his name in the name box to a nickname and it will be saved in the history header, so the next QSO would just show the nickname.? That's the way it's SUPPOSED to work - not to say there couldn't be a bug causing your problem. Taking the above into consideration, please let me know if your problem persists. I did find an error in the QSO count when it's saved in history. I'm working on that and hope to have a fix released very soon.? 73, Ed - W4ELP |

As always thanks for your effort.? The program is wonderful in it's simplicity and just what I need for a quick roundtable to keep track of who checked in and what's going on in their life.?? |
