I would like to do a hidden transmitter hunt in Willmar before the weather gets cold. I'm going to plan a little farther out and do the foxhunt on Saturday, September 23rd at 6:30pm. Meeting location will be at the outdoor archery range located north of Walmart at 6pm if you'd like to join, team up with other or discuss the hunt beforehand . The transmitter will be within Willmar city limits and on publicly accessible property. More information will be available as we get closer to the foxhunt and the rest of the details get worked out.

I have used it many times years ago and I think it is a very good website for spotting current DX activities. Especially 6 meters for example. The way it works is for people to post their spotting reports on the site. Can be after working another ham on the band, or just receiving stations you heard. It covers all amateur bands. W0SW club will have an information and demonstration booth setup in the exhibition building that is directly East of the main gate at the Renville County Fairgrounds this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I will be at the booth Thursday and Friday from 4-9pm. My friend W8CPT, Don and myself have started to organizing this group together. I have invited some of you directly already. On Saturday, Aug 5th from 9am to 1pm(?) I will be operating Parks On The Air at Sibley State Park by New London to coincide with the International 10-10 contest on the 10 meter band. Hello members, On Saturday, August 12th from 6:30 am to 1pm, the Maple Grove Radio Club will be using the 146.910- repeater for communications through our area during the 2023 Antique Car Run. Please be aware that there will be directed traffic on the 91 repeater and to refrain from use untill after 1pm on Saturday.

To help clean up efforts in the Brooten and New London areas, the W0SW and W0SV amateur radio clubs will be providing emergency communications on the W0SW 146.910- (primary) and 147.030- (secondary) repeaters starting on Saturday, July 29th at 9am. This will be a directed net for the volunteers assisting workers and relaying information back to net control and emergency command centers. Please refrain from using the repeaters during the daytime hours while traffic is being passed. The scope of the clean up project is currently unknown and may extend into early next week. Hello Gang! I finally got everything submitted to the ARRL website tonight! Here is the confirmation email with the confirmation #25nd24yf. I want to thank Paul KC?HST for all those 54 PSK31 digital contacts! Don KC?QNA for jumping around the bands like myself. And to Dave KB?WJP, for his expertise in getting the digital logging to connect up to his laptop with internet access for us to check and verify callsigns. And everyone helping others setting up equipment. I know we had some bad weather, but we were in a good place… though I read in the field day packet… this might not be “In the spirt of FD.” But think any shelter is a good shelter. We used emergency generator power and not commercial power. Some hams even do field day from EOC which can be in a mobile home setup or in a building within the city. I had a hard time with setting up my big dipole due to the dew point and temps were a bad combination for me this year. But I persevered by resting and taking a few breaks. I would of liked to of been on the air more than I did. But I was very excited to work the South Cook Islands with a few other DX stations. I will try to get a QSL card for both me and the for the club callsign at some point. I will be logging that as our 1st contact in Logbook Of the World for the club! After doing field day again after a few years hiatus, It was both hard and still fun to do. Now with this experience of coordinating FD, I think I will be better prepared for next years FD event! Cause I will have reference material to fall back on. I hope we can get more people to volunteer to help us make a few more bonus points for next years event. The more we do it…. Hopefully the easier it gets! I would like to see us hams get more familiar with the NTS 2.0. (National Traffic System) For this being field day, sending messages should be apart of it too. And is something we should practice how to do. Myself… I’ve only forwarded one message some years ago. And to me, that is not enough. I ran across a YouTube zoom meeting video about it. Hello members, In the next 30-60 days we will be enabling a 100hz ctcss tone on the 146.910 repeater in efforts to help cut out or reduce interference and noise. Programming the 100hz ctcss tone into your radios now will ensure uninterrupted use of the repeater when the change goes into effect. Having the tone pre programmed into your radio early will not effect use of the .91 before the change happens. If you would like help programming the tone into you radios, we will try to help at the next scheduled club meeting at 6:30pm on Tuesday, July 25th located at the Kandiyohi Rescue Squad Building.
