Re: Does WinLink VARA HF & FM work on emergencies w/o the internet?
Ruben, winklink/vara will pass traffic radio to radio or radio¡¯s if more are listening on the frequency, however, if the internet is not working, no one can then pass that message over the internet

Rubin, The only places that use Internet are gateway stations. They can move traffic relay if needed without local internet if needed. Others are much better experts than I am. W4DBL Doug Lynch

Re: VARA FM Questions
Thanks Charlie...I did not see that described on the VARA FM info sheet.? For practical operation I think would be unusual for a VARA FM network to have/use unlicensed nodes in a digi peating path.

Re: VARA FM Questions
Rick, Clarification: *Any* VARA FM node can operate as a digipeater, *licensed or not*. Only a licensed node can *use* a digipeater in its path. Charlie NN3EE

Re: VARA HF on Yaesu FT 991A
You exactly captured the problem. So I went into services and delayed the USB devices until windows had booted up completely. Hitting a TX or RX in Yaesu radios will not unfreeze the radio from TX.

Re: VARA HF on Yaesu FT 991A
Even with a commercial shielded USB cable the problem remains. If a choke cures your problem, then it implies a RFI problem on the cable, and not signaling from the computer to the radio. W4JDY Sent:
