Re: Free trial mode despite registration
Lee;
If you haven't already done so (as others have recommended), copy and paste the call-sign and Registration Key from the email to the corresponding fields on the VARA Setup screen. You possibly have a corrupted VARA.ini file, with garbage characters in the Registration Key record. Pasting in the Registration code from your registration email should fix that. Mark - AD7EF |

Lee; You definitely can have registered VARA HF / VARA FM (with the same license key) on multiple computers, so previously having it installed on another computer shouldn't make any difference. Is the call-sign you have entered in the "Settings -> VARA Setup" window -exactly- the call you submitted for the VARA registration? ? ? |

Yes, it's still on Gmail. This isn't the first time I've received the pop-up about free trial mode. The previous time I went back to the original email and copy/pasted it from there.? Lee K5DAT? On Sun, Apr 28, 2024, 8:26 PM Marvin Penepent via <pilot-1=[email protected]> wrote:

My VARA HF application popped up a message saying it was running in free trial mode, and I had to click the button to extend. I purchased a license last year, and the key is entered in the setup. There are no errors associated with the key, i.e. there's nothing indicating the key is not valid. How do I get the application out of free trial mode? I'm on version 4.8.6. ? Re: 10 Meter QRG
Report to the ARRL Volunteer Monitoring Program. I heard Riley Hollingsworth K4ZDH speak less than a week ago. He runs the program and they are the real deal. Reporting interference with the VarAC standard frequency might get some attention. He reported they refer cases to the FCC and those cases get real priority at the FCC. So nothing may end up coming of the effort, but it will take you only a little time to submit a report. See? for more?information.

Re: 10 Meter QRG
When I was stationed in the West Indies (VP2EHF), the ¡°uno sero cinco¡± ¡°channel¡± was always in use by the narcotrafficantres. We captured a couple of high-speed boats equipped with Icom marine radios set to 28.105 which we had monitored all the way northwards from South America up to the Anagada Straights. About the time I left for home in 1995 many of the drug runners had installed voice encryption ¡ª both digital and analog scramblers. Those didn¡¯t help them much either.

How difficult of a troup movement would it be to change the slots for 10 meters? Yes we are legal and they are not. But the bootleg stuff isn't going away. And with 10 meters being in really good shape right now, the QRM is likely to get worse. Doug / N3JXB |

I got into Meshtastic too, only to find out that in rural America there isn't much going on with that (or AREDN for that matter), but I guess that just means I need to build better antennas!
