Re: VARA HF resetting Data mod on IC-7100 and IC-7300
#ic7100
Like many on this forum, I also use Vara/VarAC with an IC-7300, I have no problems at all using it and the mode remains at USB-D.
I am QRV by remote at the moment using Win4Icomsuite with VarAC. 73 Dave |
Re: OCX problems
Hi, 2. Run a command prompt window as Administrator: Windows Start Menu > type in "command" in the search bar > Right-click on "Command Prompt" > Click on "Run as administrator" > Then click "Yes".
FOR %1 IN (C:\VARA\OCX\*) DO regsvr32 /u %1 and then press Enter. FOR %1 IN (C:\VARA\OCX\*) DO C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\regsvr32.exe /u %1 and then press Enter. -- |

This is good advice, you need to look at the application(s) that are controlling the rig for the cause. Vara HF has no ability to change rig settings.

I'm using an IC-7300 and VARA 4.8.7, and I haven't had that problem. In the WInlink Vara HF Session window, choose Settings, Radio Setup. There is a checkbox to Use Internal Soundcard.? Be sure that is checked.? Maybe that's the culprit. John C. Cox, K4JCC On Mon, Jun 3, 2024 at 8:01?AM Greg KM5VC via <KM5VCVHF=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Soundcard device missing in action!
Windows XP, 7, 8, 10, and 11 have all evolved device mangment including sound. They're competing with Apple, who designs and builds both the computer hardware and the operating system as closed black boxes. They can change anything internally, both hardware and software, anywhere at any time, and basically kill (make obsolete) whole systems by doing that.
As a result, Apple makes stylish, powerful, and easy to use systems that are expensive and closed. PCs are wildly modifiable, with an almost infinite number of hardware vendors involved. No hardware in a PC has to be Microsoft or even Intel. This is why they''re so cheap, free market in action. Winlink's signalink setup instructions () has a few gaps. When they say click on (the speaker icon), it's in the system tray on the right side of the task bar, usually on the bottm of the desktop. And when they show the Sound panel and Playback Tab, the Signalink device already has been named "Signalink TX". If you can't see anything like that, keep the playback tab open and unplug the Signalink USB cable. The playback tab list should change, plug it back in, and it should change back. the line that changed is your signalink. The RX side should act the same on the "Recording" tab. Next, levels.... Can't ignore the windows sound levels - you've got the windows sound levels at the device level (double click the device in the sound panel), the App level in VARA, and the knobs on the soundlink. Try to avoid extremes on any one of them, if you can, for the cleanest sound. Hope this helps. 73, Jeff kn8a |

Hi all,
I've consistently been having an issue with VARA HF resetting my radio's (IC-7100) Data mod to ACC no matter how may times I set it to USB. I'm running Win 10 and VARA HF 4.8.7. A fellow club member has reported the same with his IC-7300. This issue persists across reinstalls of VARA, the radio USB drivers and the entire Winlink platform. Has anyone else had this issue? If yes, have you been able to fix it? TIA! VK4MPB (Praj) |

开云体育Hi John,I would think your Signllink and Radio are fine. What is suspect is the computer. Try to switch computer as your variable and see what you find. Borrow a laptop from someone and give it a try. Good luck, Barry K6ZA

This alternate configuration supports VHF/UHF FM transceivers that are configured for 9600bps data operation. To work with your TS-480SAT, the "orange" jumper must be across 'SPKR' and pin-5. ?You should make sure that your SignaLink isn't jumpered in the alternate arrangement. Mark - AD7EF |
Re: Soundcard device missing in action!
Mark, I am using the data cable that came with the SIgnalink.? It has the round 6-pin connector on one end (for the DATA connector on the radio) and the RJ-45 connector on the other end. I called Kenwood earlier and asked if the DATA connector was always hot, and was told that yes, it is always hot. There is Menu 45, which can enable DSP filtering for the DATA connector.? Menu 45 is either "on" or "off".? I've tried it both ways to no avail. I've checked the jumpering a couple of times, especially SPKR to pin 5.? I installed jumpers per Signalink instructions, but I now wondering if I haven't done something wrong there.? I may order the plug-in module to remove any doubt. Thank you for your reply, suggestions, and patience.? Hopefully, we will win this battle. 73, John N5CM

If you're certain that receive-audio is being routed to the connector that the SignaLink is interfaced to, perhaps there's a problem with receive-audio wiring in the interface cable. Jim, Initially, the values for Menu #s 46 and 47 were set at 4.? I moved them to 9 in hopes of getting some audio out to the Signalink, but no luck there, either. 73, John N5VCM

Nothing yet, Ken, but I haven't given up. I have ordered cables to enable rig control on my TS-480 through a USB port on my computer.? I have downloaded the ARCP-480 software from Kenwood.? My cable should be hre on Tuesday 06/04/24. I have numerous searches for a possible fix, all to no avail. I'm now of the belief that rig control may be a necessity to run WInlink/VARA-HF on the 480. 73,? John N5CM

Also the TS-480 has a squelch knob on the lower left side of the radio, so maybe your audio is squelched and don't see anything on the VARA VU meter. 73 John Denison KD5YOU |
