Re: Kick Start a conversation
I run Vara on HF on my BPQ32 system located in Broken Arrow, OK. Run a TS-2000 that scans on 40m and 80m. Also run Vara-FM on the Sapulpa OK 145.43 2m repeater.
All the clients run Winlink to Vara (or FM) to retrieve and send messages to the system.

I added you to my drop box Radio folder. Folks are finding out their Anit Virus, real time scanning software needs to be disabled to run VARA.

Wow! That's really weird! Do you still have it blocked in your router? Maybe it threw a fit because it couldn't report to headquarters!

Winmor - I had the same issue yesterday evening. Are they fishing for more money from re-registration? I too, rebooted and all was well.
VARA - An annoying feature, the busy detector triggers on Any noise on the channel. I have one of those "ghost-shadow" signals floating around on 7.101. It sounds like a harmonic or mixed signal FM-ing birdie, except it's not a discrete, stable signal. There's no adjustment for the detector sensitivity or a way to just turn the dang thing off. Another annoyance with this stuff.

On a different note this morning one of my WInmor ports reported it was no longer registered when I entered my code.. It said it was not valid for my callsign.. Winmor is also excluded and I then had to reboot to get it to take it correctly.. Interesting..

?
We have software to help us detect potential threats and vara gets snagged by the software. Apparently, there is a problem.
I'll send the dude an email and ask him what the deal is.

This is getting interesting. Since I disabled Windows Defender real time AV scanning I haven't had this problem. (This box only does radio, no email and web access is filtered/restricted.) I discovered the "back door" while scanning for TCP/UDP port activity. That looked suspicious to me and I'd bet it does to your AV progarm. The mere presents of a "phone home" port should sound the alarm, but not delete the program! When the Chinese do this sort of thing, they seem to be better at hiding it. (Rets check update now, no?)

Not sure what took it out.. I need to look in my AV logs.. But it was and remains excluded from Scans. If it continues.. I will put it behind a VPN and run it with out the FW and AV..
