I found this command to create a large .txt file in Linux:

tr -dc "A-Za-z 0-9" < /dev/urandom | fold -w100|head -n 500 > bigfile.txt
This created a 50k text file. I didn¡¯t notice any change in my upload speed but the download speed did increase by about 1 Mbps.
I played around with the ping command and auto-tune which adjusted the output level and recommended I adjust my speaker level (which I did).
Still playing around with it but I think I¡¯m heading in the right direction.
