Hey George, I¡¯m running an FT-991a to a W10 mini-PC and it does sound like a driver problem.? You need to install the driver with the computer disconnected.? Disconnect your radio, uninstall the driver and reboot.? Reinstall the driver and then reconnect the USB cable to your radio and power the radio on.? You should see two new COM ports appear in device manager, as well as a USB CODEC in the sound devices section.? Pick the first COM port as your CAT control in the VARA Session manager.? While you¡¯re in Device manager look at the properties of the COM port and note the data rate.? I think Yaesu has a setting for CAT data rate that must match.? When CAT is set up properly the frequency and mode will update when you start a VARA HF session.? Then look at the radio settings in the VARA HF modem and see that you have the right devices selected.? (I like to rename mine to something meaningful.)? Also, go into sound devices in Control Panel and make sure that neither device is set as the default. ?Good luck! PatMc AJ6MJ ? I downloaded the CP210x Com Port driver from the Yaesu website but it may not have activated properly. I am trying to figure out how to determine what com port driver, if any, now resides inside my dx10 and what to do next. ? George KE8TSL ?
