¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDave: USB receives OK but it won¡¯t transmit. I don¡¯t understand why it works in the DATA mode with FT8 but not on ARDOP or VARA. ? I can make it receive VARA OK by going in the MENU and shift the IF 1570 HZ. I guess I can live with it but I would like to understand why the difference between the VARA software and FT8 that causes it. ? Thanks. Gary K7GS ? ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? From: Dave

I'm not familiar with the FT-2000 but I suspect that it is set for a narrower mode digital signal, like packet or RTTY. Older rigs do that in DATA (pre software modem era) modes. You want at least 2.5-2.7 kHz for Winmor and ARDOP in their wide bandwidth modes and as close to 3 kHz as your rig will give you for VARA. Is your rig control software shifting the filters when you change modes? Lots of variables. (How does the rig know you're use VARA?) It's also helpful to shut off all of the RX dsp features and let the modem software do the filtering. Some software modems will set the "channel busy" flag because they can't determine signal to noise status due to a lack of noise when you have the RX dsp noise filter activated. ? 73 - Dave - W7EES ?
