Re: 24V DC motor

Exactly, and the response of the motor is an important part of feeling what the lathe is doing. A speed readout is just a distraction. Old industrial production machines used an Ammeter to see how

Great stuff.
I don¡¯t know if you dabble with electronics but I also made a simple speed readout using a Hall sensor, an Arduino board and a small display. The Hall sensor detects magnetism, so you

PWM (Power Width Modulation, I believe) controllers are readily available online¡ the ones I got (I have two motors also) have a three way rocker switch (forward, off, reverse) and a potentiometer

Re: 24V DC motor

Thanks to all for the information, I have not been able to find a pdf of the motor spec's, why I asked the bench supply has a max of 30v so I am winding it down to 24v to use the lathe and wondered

Hi Phill,
These motors are designed to be powered by a battery pack constructed from lithium cells with a nominal voltage of 3.7 volts per cell. 6 cells would only provide 22.2 volts so would

To keep answers simple, take off the plastic tube and use something like a mesh.? Motors do radiate a certain amount.
Now run the motor as you state.? Touch the end.? If you feel that you are going

Re: 24V DC motor

Fasco has several PDF documents with spec tables on many of their motors.
Try googling Fasco dc motor specification PDFs.
As a general rule, dc motors are quite forgiving with voltage

Sorry John I was a bit quick at asking.
It is a Fasco 24V DC? made in Canada? product No 2809-850-014 there are no spec's on the plate to tell me amp's, wat's, etc; .
And yes I have fitted it onto

Re: 24V DC motor

First, we must assume that the discussion is for 24V scooter motors used on Unimats.
That being said, who here can tell us about burning out one of these motors while in use on a Unimat.
