Re: drilling small holes on a unimat

The Dremel chuck has a 8mm x 0.75 thread. But other threads are available. I have a Dremelesque coreless drill bought from Aldi and that has a 7mm thread. The Dremel system also supports collets, but normally only one size is supplied. The other sizes are available yo buy via fleabay or Aliexpress. The collets work well for small size drills.

I duplicated the the threads on the dremel, this would be the dremel's spindle. Now I can put that in any unimat chuck and use dremel's tightening nut to hold the collect which holds the small drill bit.

One can buy these collects and the nut that tightens without purchasing a dremel. I asked their customer service what the thread was on my dremel's spindle and they supplied the answer.

Another option for holding tiny drills is a pin chuck, held in a regular chuck. I have an Eclipse one, which I have used in a Unimat and also in a bench drill. Not as good as a collet chuck, but still useful.

(Spear & Jackson own the Eclipse brand.)

I found some in a display of Dremel accessories at a local tool shop or you can get them on ebay, I will see if I can find a link later, some fit the dremels, some fit other similar drills.

Re: drilling small holes on a unimat

You can get replacement chucks for dremel drills that replace the collet chuck with a proper jacobs style chuck, these close down to nothing, so are excelent for small drill bits, you would just need a threaded bar to mount them on with the correct thread on it for the chuck.

I've got a chuck that will take very small drill bits for my Shereline but that would be really handy for my drill press that won't hold anything smaller than 3/16ths or maybe 1/8th.

Spelling. From one of my other forum signatures: Spelling isn't one of my stellar talents. I still managed to fly UH-1s. Get over it.

"Phonological awareness is the ability to recognize and manipulate the sounds in spoken words. It is an essential skill for reading and writing, as it helps individuals to understand the relationship between sounds and letters. Research has shown that individuals who struggle with spelling but not reading often have difficulties with phonological awareness." ?

I remember my first struggles with spelling and my mother telling me to "sound it out." I had no idea what she was talking about, and she had no idea I wasn't being taught phonics. Parents weren't quite as involved with their schooling in 1963 and no homework to go by.
