In principle, any small angle will do. I have clamped a cutter blade in a small vice so that I still have enough space to press both ends together. The cutter blade and the vice jaw form an angle.

I always have a look on E-bay and search for PU round belts 4 mm diameter. or also on Google. You'll always find a supplier.

Amazon is your friend. They sell 10, 15, 20, and 25 packs of premade belts. Look for 227 and 341 buna-n O-rings. I bought the 227 in 1/8 width and the 341 in 3/16 width Best Regards, Andrei

I made a belt joining jig by cutting a vee groove in an old pair of pliers, heat the ends then close the pliers together, works nicely, then use flush cutters to trim the doughnut at the join. Sent

Making tailstock riser from cast iron would be challenging without a mill. A mill bigger than Unimat. Headstock is easy. I made one from a chunk of metric cold rolled plate. Cut it to size and drilled

Jeff, You can easily make your own from cast iron. It will be just like the original headstock. Also you can do the same for the tail stock riser. This way you will be staying as close to the original
