Re: steam engines
My first private lathe was a Unimat 3, equipped with all the accessories for metalworking. I used it to make my first steam engines. I bought this machine in 1986 to make new axles for an N-gauge

Re: Tom¡¯s Tool Store
Andrei, If you had the skills to grind your own sharp cutting tools you could do far more with the Unimat than you can imagine. Without that skill you are not going anywhere. Take the time to develop

Re: Tom¡¯s Tool Store
Hi Gang: If I can find what I need, I will. But if no one makes just what I want, at a reasonable price, then I make myself. Custom. Carl.

Re: Tom¡¯s Tool Store
Yeah tiny cuts are often the order of the day¡ I don¡¯t have a bigger lathe but still like the challenge of working out how to do things on the U3. As we had to realise when we drove our old,

Re: Tom¡¯s Tool Store
Oh, it definitely cuts, but it was slow on steel. I can still cut plastic and brass with it, but I will take the steel to a bigger lathe in the shop. Get Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/AAb9ysg>
