Re: Rustoleum Green Hammered
I am in NJ.? I just called 2 Sherwin Williams commercial paint stores.? They are unable to provide any tinted color of hammered paint.? Rustoleum has told me that their hammered paint cannot be tinted to match something.
Every time we discuss this, there are always individuals who basically say that their local friendly paint store was able to make them a Unimat green.? But we never have any specifics as to who will mix this paint currently, or even which paint and which tint(s) were used.? This may be a case of alligators living in the sewer.?? |

Re: Rustoleum Green Hammered
Steve Jaynes, My local commercial store would not give me a hammered finished in a spray can.? Did you get your pints in can with a lid?
Can you tell me which formula you purchased?? I think everything is switching to water based paint. I wish we could get rustoleum to color match this for us. Thanks, Tamra |
Re: Dumb question dept: Email photos
emailed photos in the photos section are not directly linked to the emails. What they are linked to is the poster's name, and that name is linked to the emails he/she/they/it have sent. For example, I looked at the emails photos and found one that shows a Unimat sitting on top of a Uni box with stuff around it, including a box to the left, where you can see part of the tailstock end of another Unimat, and to the right the end of another box. Photo name is SAM_1224_3_.JPG Click on it, it shows three Unimats on boxes surrounded by a bunch of other Uni stuff. Info below the photo shows the name James Quick highlighted in blue. Click on that, and it shows his directory entry. Below that, click on "All Messages By This Member" (also highlighted in blue). That will get you all the messages he's sent. Re: Rustoleum Green Hammered
I've posted this solution previously: ?
Sherwin Williams Industrial paint stores will MATCH the Unimat color in Hammer-Tone finishes. ?This is the REAL DEAL, in that it's truly machine paint. ? Years past, they'd sell as little as a pint of the matched paint, but I THINK, they've raised it to a quart. They also have an excellent machine primer, which really helps prevent chipping. ?I've refinished perhaps 20 Unimats using their matched colors, I have THREE different colors, which are indicative of the change in the colors over the years. ?ALL my painting supplies are in a warehouse at present, so I can't offer any additional detail. ?When I restore a Unimat, I use the most representative paint found on the project and spray it on with a finishing spray gun or sometimes an air brush. ?I ALWAYS USE A PRIMER, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE CLAIMED FEATURE OF "NO PRIMER REQUIRED". ?Trust me, it improves the durability. Best of luck with your projects. ? BTW, I hope to extract all my Unimat stuff from the warehouse over the next 2 months. ?I'll have no less than 1 dozen machines for sale. ?Watch this space... -- Steve Jaynes Unimat owner/collector since 1995, all generations. |

Wow! that turned out really good. I like the way it folds out. Lots of room for tool and accessory storage also. Thanks for sharing the photos of your setup. On Fri, Mar 24, 2023 at 7:51?PM Dave W <fahrwud@...> wrote:

Re: Case / base for newly acquired PC/basic
I adapted an old carpenter¡¯s toolbox to hold my lathe. The major modification was to the front folding section - this was beefed up with a section of counter-top and I added a pair of feet pinned with hinge sections. Pulling the hinge pins allows the lathe to fold up into the box. The lathe is held in place by knock-down furniture screws - the shanks just fit into the lathe mounting holes and act as keepers. ? ? ??Pics here:? DW |
