¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Lio: I use my drafts person's electric eraser to clean commutators. I use the gray eraser meant for removing ink. Notice
the grind marks from dynamic balancing. A better quality

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Pat: As a tool maker we used special center punches called Transfer Punches: Very
handy, never hit them hard, just enough to leave a prick. Then
I use my 3/4" diameter center punch to enlarge it to a 1/4"
crater. Being a nerd, I just had to have more than one set, so I have fractions to 1/2", 1-60 numbers and metric. I don't have the 0.5" to 1" set, yet. Carl. On 4/1/2020 1:13 AM, pat goodyear

So here is how I would do the finish and holes, thread the center with the proper relief. ?Thread it on the spindle, face it square and to fit the chuck recess. ? Put it in the recess then Using a center punch through the chuck locate the first hole, drill and tap it, install one screw, then using a drill bit that just fits inside the threads drill starter holes, remove and finish. ? My chucks that have facing plates have an index recess. ?? |

When I restored mine late last year I had to do a lot to the motors internals to bring it back to spec...

The screw on top of the case at the rear is what I¡¯m on about, inside there is a bit of metal ¡°u¡± shape that that screw and internal nut lock holds it in place to keep the power cable away from the rotor, subsequently the earth cable, and the brushes housing connecting cable also wraps around the screw, when tighten it holds all the earths ( brushes and mains) while the u shape grips the power cable, I hope that explanation helps more... if you no longer have the screw there it¡¯s an easy thing to replace, the U90 motor dose not have an air vent, it¡¯s a limited run motor (8 mins of use to 10 min cool down) only the unimat 3/4 came with the air cooled fan rotor. Re: What do you guys make?
Hi,
I make fountain pens with mine. Was told it'd be too small but you can just about get it to work with some extra thought. I was forever having issues with the run out though, and since I believe that it has been fairly abused in the past, I switched to something larger - also to save some time. I do still plan on using the unimat for the shaping though, it seems a very comfortable size to shape small items by hand with the t rest. I've got some examples on my ?if anyone is interested. Recently tentatively used it as a mill too. (I haven't got the spindle raiser spacer or I'd have used the various saw attachments at some point - should be easy to make though, especially now that I've got a larger lathe to help you. :-) ) Was daydreaming a little today and realised that one could convert a unimat into a router fairly easily too, so depending on how long this whole situation lasts I might end up doing that if I get done with all my other projects! |

I just run up the motor and filed a groove into the belt pulley to take a belt.
