Quick as in alive, ¡°the ?quick and the dead¡±. ?Alive because unlike regular silver it doesn¡¯t just lie down and wait to get beaten into shape.
Curious though about whether the Dutch and German words correspond to ¡®alive¡¯. ?I guess they must do, since it¡¯s old English, not Norman French. ?(Mercure?)

If you "right click" on the page (above the pop up log-in frame) then "select all" then "copy" you will get all the text on your clipboard. Then "paste" into your favourite word processor and you will be able to read the text!
