I love my 24v DC motors also !
As I have a speed controller (two actually in one box, for two motors) I made new pulleys of identical size to give 1:1 gearing.
I kept the same size and format of belts - as I understand it having the chance of some ¡®slip¡¯ in a disaster scenario is a useful feature¡. It works beautifully under normal operation.
Yep, close to overheating and ¡®resting¡¯ motors is a thing of the past¡ I wouldn¡¯t go back either !
