I'm another who uses their machines (an SL and a U3) to make model railway stuff. Typically chimneys and parts for 009 (OO/4mm scale narrow gauge using 9mm gauge track), I have turned my own wheels. Some of what I do is for others, supplying patterns (chimneys and domes) for kits and one-off models. The photo is of a chimney for a British OO scale class 03 diesel shunter, which measure 8.7mm tall, has a recess in the top and a very fine lip just below the top. This, like most of my turning, was done on the 3, with the lip carefully shaped using a graver resting on a watchmakers tool rest. I often use a jewellers loupe (eyepiece) when turning...
