Igate not uploading to IS

Hello all, My (EUGENE) iGate/Full Digi is no longer uploading packets the IS server. It must have quit in the last few months after uploading flawlessly for many many years. https://aprs.fi/info/a/EUGENE It looks like it's ignoring incoming EUGENE iGate packets. Should I try different server? But if my understanding is correct they all follow the same rules. Any thoughts? Regards, Ross kc7rjk

Delayed long packets sent

Hi all, Has anyone heard or seen of this? I am using UI-View32 and a KPC-3 as an iGate. Recently, something has either changed or gone rogue on me. My beacons and status text seem to being delay/saved up and then all sent as a very long packet at random intervals. Looks like roughly every 30 minutes. I've been pulling my hair out for a few days. Good afternoon. Question: Has anyone found a filter statement that will filter out all of the DSAT, and other repeater objects that have been inserted into the aprs maps? In the chicago area, my map is so cluttered that it's very difficult to pick out the legitimate APRS symbols. hi all i am ok with that line? FILTER m/200 p/ve2/va2/ve1/ve9 o/iss*/PSAT* there are 2 spaces: one between the 200 and the p one between the ve9 and o this way i will see my station here in Quebec and NB i "shell see" where is the iss on my map if she pass over me am i correct ?? thanks guys and have a good week gervais ve2ckn

UI-View32 and Microsoft GPS

Hello – I have a very confounding problem. I have a Sony laptop with Win 10 Pro, 8GB ram & an i3 I am using a Microsoft GPS that came with Streets & Trips 2006. GPS works very well and is spitting out >>>>> GPGGA GPGSA >>>>> GPRMC GPGSV Sentences every 1-2 seconds. I am able to read the stream from a Putty terminal. From: APRS101 NMEA Data APRS recognizes raw ASCII data strings conforming to the NMEA 0183 Version 2.0 specification, originating from navigation equipment such as GPS and LORAN receivers. It is recommended that APRS stations interpret at least the following NMEA Received Sentence types: >>>>> [ GGA ] Global Positioning System Fix Data [ GLL ] Geographic Position, Latitude/Longitude Data >>>>> [ RMC ] Recommended Minimum Specific GPS/Transit Data [ VTG ] Velocity and Track Data [ WPT ] Way Point Location I have the GPS on Com5 and have the setup pointed at it. In the setup I have 4800 baud, Com5 and GPS enabled all selected. I open the GPS Input to see my position and see no data. When I choose: Update My Location, I get an error window: GPS data is currently invlaid I am also using Winlink on this same computer and am able to use & send position reports using this GPS I have been looking around the application to see if there is another setting somewhere that I missed. I cannot seem to find anything though. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! -- Kevin KD7DFV

Weather station software that works on ui-view
I am running ui-view and have a W-8681-pro II weatherstation.The manual with the W-8681 - pro II suggests I use Easyweather IP software.Will this software work with UI-view or is a free weather station software program that works with the weather station and uiview. thanks Dave m1doz

I want to create a robust packet gateway using an SCS-tracker. I have had it work in the past but something is not right. I have everything essentially set up. Before I get into any detail I would like to find someone using it as a gateway, using it for robust packet (or think that that's not a problem anyhow) and has about 45 minutes to spare. I have the software installed, and the last time I used it the issue was that I could not see my own gateway in the map so didn't know if I was even sending out beacons. UK Map

Hi every one and thank you to the group admin for all the hard work put into this group. As this software has been around for years ,i am surprised at the limited number of maps available. In the maps folder there is a good map of europe ,from that i was wondering who and where this map came from ? Reason i am asking is that i would like an enlarged section of the UK and Ireland. Can anyone help with this request Please ?? Kind Regards Graeme

After running OK for several years suddenly all stations heard except mine have the call sign grayed out and an"x" over the symbol . the stations do not show up in the stations list . The only stations in the list is mine What has changed and how do I fix this problem Thanks in advance 73 Russ W4PGT

Registration Fail

I've installed UI-View32 on my machine at home, and after entering my registration information, I get an error message that says "That registration information is invalid" I have confirmed that it is not installed under Program Files. I went back to the registration page and resubmitted my information, just in case something had changed. The number came back the same as I've previously used. Which also works on other APRS-IS applications as well. Callsign: VE7RJT Name: Rod Templeton I connected remotely to my work machine, which is also running UI-View32 and it loads with no problems. I checked the registration information under the Help menu, and it reports that it is registered to Rod Templeton, VE7RJT. If anyone has any suggestions regarding this, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Rod Templeton, VE7RJT

UIview NWS No NWS notices

I have had this happen the last time a storm came through. Had one come through last night. I got the yellow frames. I did not get the red alerts of any alarms. I have the shape files in and correctly configured. I have the correct (new) firenet.us:14580 selected. I have the correct settings in both INI files from WA8LMF website. Everything was working. It was great. Now it has just stopped. I have not made any changes to my settings. Has something changed and I don't know about it?? Bob W8RID

I am having trouble with UI-View updating my position on APRS-IS and APRS-fi. The last position update for my station (K4RSU) was on 4/30/2020. I do not know what is causing it to not update. All other stations near me are updating fine with the latest date. I am wondering if there could have been a Windows 10 update of some kind that might be causing this. I have had issues before that were caused by a Windows update. Further I think UI-View may be just too outdated for me who uses a soundcard TNC. Here is my setup: Acer Aspire V5-131-2680 computer running Windows 10 UI-View 32 Version 2.03 APRS software Soundcard TNC Software (UZ7HO Version 1.05) Rascal Optical Interface between computer and ICOM IC-2100H Radio or ICOM HT This setup has worked great for me for years until now. Have also used it for Winlink,, EasyPal, FLDigi and etc. as well as with analog applications. When a beacon is sent out on 144.39 MHz here is what it looks like from the UZ7HO Soundcard TNC software: 1:Fm K4RSU To APU25N Via WIDE2-2 <UI C Pid=F0 Len=49> [08:07:55T] =3842.59N/07722.63W-Zach in Manassas,VA {UIV32N} I cannot find any, easy to understand, documentation with examples that tells what my beacon is saying. What is the destination APU25N mean? Where is the symbol for the map determined? I see the grid coordinates. Where does this burst enter the internet for display on APRS-fi? Is it the gateway or from the originating station? In my case I think that would be my gateway N3HF-1 as I see relays thru this gateway for hams near me but it is not updating my house symbol on APRS-fi It is posting correctly generated by UI-View on my computer and I can listen to the signal going out on my HT. It sounds fine. Reduced output volume to the radio and that did not help. My normal Gateway station I think is N3HF-1 which is about 3.1 airline miles away. Went to the N3HF-1 home location to ensure I was getting into his site okay and I appear to be full quieting there but did not see any beacon going out from N3HF-1 on my signal. How does the gateway get information to the internet? I guess in batches over a wireline connection at the gateway to their router? Here is a screen print of the UI-View Station Setup page: (See attachment) I changed the symbol from a house to a circle with a zero in the center at someone’s suggestion and that did not help. It still did not update on APRS-fi. Here is a screen print of the Miscellaneous Setup and the APRS Server Setup Pages: (See attachment) I wonder if anyone else is having this problem? Maybe something has changed that I do not know about.to my knowledge. I had not made any changes that might initially to have caused this. I checked other applications that use the soundcard TNC and they are working fine so I am asking for any help someone can offer because I have not been very good at finding my problem. Also I would like an explanation of how all of this information to APRES-IS is routed.

ftm-400xdr and ui-view32
1) There never was any UIview "control program" for the D710 or any other radio. There were simple text files to initialize external TNCs or the TNCs built into some radios like the D700 or D710. 2) All Yaesu radios that "do APRS" (including the FTM-400) have what I consider a fundamental flaw in their implementation: Unlike the Kenwood APRS radios, they DO NOT provide full access to, or control of, the internal TNCs/modems of the radio by external programs like UIview. You can conduct APRS activities from the radio's front panel. This includes beaconing positions, displaying received positions from other stations (in text form -- not on a map), and receiving and sending APRS messages (if you really want to compose messages on a small "glass keyboard" touch screen on the control head). This all functions in a manner similar to a Kenwood D700 or D710 running standalone in "APRS" mode. There is a limited capability for an external program to monitor what the TNC hears on receive, but no way to transmit standard AX.25 packets from an external program. The full serial data send/receive capability of the radio's internal modem, for external applications, is limited to the C4FM digital side of the radio. Page 158 of the manual discusses "Packet Communications". It describes a hookup using an EXTERNAL TNC, just like any other non-APRS radio. The diagram shows a specialty cable from Yaesu that creates the standard female 6-pin mini-DIN "data port" jack at the end of a foot-long cable plugged into the highly non-standard-pinout 8-pin min-DIN jack on the back of the radio. Note that the so-called 6-pin min-DIN "data" port is actually transmit and receive audio, and PTT -- not serial data to/from a TNC. 3) BOTTOM LINE: To make this radio work with UIview, you will need an external hardware TNC, -OR- a soundcard interface and an application on the PC like the "UZ7HO Soundmodem" or "DireWolf" that turns the computer's sound card into a software TNC. (On a decent soundcard, the soft TNCs will vastly outperform any hardware TNC on weak or noisy signals.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stephen H. Need some assistance on find Pmap 9

Good Morning to the group- Been away from Ui-View for a while and this pandemic working from home has "allowed" / caused me time to dust off the APRS equipment and get it a new install up an running, so that my excuse to this next uninformed question. I went to find the Pmap 9 and Traveler 9 program but can only find service pack 9 on the undertow web site, so where can i get a full copy of the pmap9 install as the service pak only upgrades existing installs.
