UI-View Maps

Talking about maps for ui-view brings up a question I have.
I normally run Precision Mapping9 but thought I'd try the map server by PA7RHM. When I do my position is way off, zoomed in it's on the west coast of Florida and zoomed out it has me in Canada. I'm really in Miami. Anyone have a suggestion, is there a setting I have wrong?

Thanks,

John

Do you see this for all the SSIDs you are running under
K4AG or just some of them? Knowing the call sign and SSID
will help determine if there is something funny going
on with your position or if it's a mapping thing.

When you use the PA7RHM map server and hover over the
map with your cursor, does it show the correct lat / long
in UI-View, or do you see discrepancies like you are
seeing in your own position on the map?

Are you using a TARDIS?

Keith,

Here are 2 screen shots
in Doc1 the map shows me in Canada. The details in block next to the
symbol are correct but the lat/long in the bottom right corner are not
even close
In doc2 the map shows me in N. Fla, again station details are correct,
bottom right corner is wrong, should be closer to 29.5N, 81.5W
Does that help

Attachments aren't permitted but they can be posted in the Yahoo "files" area.

John sent me a couple of screen shots. They did indeed show him in Canada or somewhere in Florida other than his real location. It was the same lat / long that he appeared to be at when viewed on aprs.fi but viewed there, he was some distance off the SW coast of Florida.

It would appear to be a problem with the PA7RHM map server. Are there any other users on this list?

PA7RHM had an article in the February issue of QST, so he¡¯s still around. He would be the best person to ask about problems.

For North American users, PMap 9 (Precision Mapping 9.0) along
with PMapServer 9 can provide street level mapping for all of North
America. They can be installed without hassle on Windows 7 & 8.
PMapServer is available for download on the UI-View website.
However, Undertow Software is no longer selling new copies of
PMap 9, but existing owners can continue to use it as long as they
can get it registered.

Users of Windows Vista, 7 or 8 should not install UI-View below
Program Files. Instead, create a folder elsewhere. To view UI-View's
built-in context sensitive help file, download and install WinHlp32.exe.
