Steve: Thanks for the quick response. I downloaded your file and unzipped
it. There was two files in it. A file called D-700-Alt and another named
ts2000. I didn't see anything for the TM-D710G. Is one of these files the one
I need?

Thanks,
Terry W8NJR
Aha! I had an updated version of this file that includes the D710 .CMD files
in my local archives, but overlooked uploading it to my webserver after the
updates!

The updated file is attached. Note that there are two versions of the D710
init: One for fixed station use /without/ a GPS attached, and a second one for
mobile use WITH a GPS attached.

OOPS! I through I was responding directly to the sender off-list... Of
course the attachment didn't make through the Yahoo! remailer. Resent direct
to W8NJR.

Further, be aware that if you are using the new second-generation D710G with
the built-in GPS, that the GPS pass-through feature (that combines TNC RX data
and local GPS data on the same connection to the PC the way the older D700 and
D7 did ) only works when using an _EXTERNAL_ GPS connected to the serial port
on the radio control head. The internal GPS only works in the stand-alone
"APRS" mode; not with an external computer involved.

UIview became "frozen in time" and unchangeable or updatable over a decade
ago,
following the death of it's author in late 2004. This was long before
Windows
7, the TH-D710 and the TH-D72 appeared. A zip file of TNC init files for
these newer radios and the TS-2000 are located on my website. Go to:

<>

Scroll about 2/3rds of the way down the list of downloadable stuff and
look for
the link to "*UIview_CMD_Files.zip*".

You may also want to review the numerous issues relating to the aging of
UIview
(Especially running it with Windows 7 or 8.x) here:

The files section of the UI-View32 Yahoo support group
has several CMD files for the D710. I don't know if they
are more or less identical or if there are some subtle
differences. Try downloading one or two and looking them
over... e.g. make sure the file has your local (presumably
144.390 MHz) frequency in it.
