Gentlemen,
My post was to see if anyone had any input as to how the digipeater / Igate ,KD5BIG-1 sent a packet with my object information not a discussion of weather some packets are annoying or superfluous to some people. Now looking at the digipeater transmission that caused the problem it is the only "<<UI>>" unnumbered information frame that I could see that was sent by this station. I realize the packet is very corrupted involving several digipeaters due to the band being open. I was hoping that someone with AX25 protocol knowledge might look at the packet and shed some light as to what happened. Again here is the packet. 2020-10-17 04:36:47 CDT: KD5BIG-1>APWW11,WINN,WIDE1,DEGRU25N,qAR,WA5LUY-10:;146.715-R*071108z3429.06N/09336.46WrPL RQ1R,MONTGO,HOTSPR,WIDE2*/2: <<UI>>: |

I don't have them pushed out now, but when I do: I have created 67 objects that are TACTICAL locations involved in an exercise we do here each year in the west valley. I painstakingly handmade all the locations of the sirens surrounding a tactical asset. I have them in a file on my laptop and RUN them the week before the exercise and also during. I have plans on running them when we go out to check the markers for locations. IF a beacon or object is suspected as being superfluous, it would behoove the observer to contact the originator for clarification before making ANY adjustments. Re: Filter for friends
Probably.? If you use individual friend filters (f/call/dist), you will get not only the specified call, but also all stations within dist km of that call.? Sometimes that's handy to see.? There is a limit of up to 9 friend filters.

Yes , and some people get fed up with lots pointless objects cluttering up their maps , so delete them, so before you send out objects think are they really necessary!

Stolen Object
Apparently KD5BIG-1 retransmitted my object 146.715-R effectively removing it from me. I have seen this before when someone is not aware the object is in use. However looking at the raw packets it seems his station is sending information to APRS-IS that should not be sent. Can anyone explain what is going on to cause this. Here is when it occurred.

I moved the UI-View support group over to groups.io almost a year ago. Unfortunately, it was done literally the day after they doubled the price of moving everything over in one go!
Other than that, it has definitely been a much better experience here on groups.io. However, after inquiries from Adriano IK2CBD about not being able to create a folder and upload files to it, I just discovered that for the past year, members have not been allowed to do this! Please accept my apologies, but this has now been corrected. -- 73 Keith VE7GDH "I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!" -- -- 73 Keith VE7GDH "I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!" |

Re: Igate not uploading to IS
Hey Monty,

I guess I wasn't very clear with my question. It has nothing to do with local stations like mine kc7rjk-xx, it seems the EUGENE iGate-ed packets aren't being accepted by the IS servers. If you look at you'll see that there is no list for packets sent to the IS anymore. Looking at any path data will tell you the same for all of the stations around EUGENE digi/iGate. My thought Igates (recently) need a call sign instead of location to be accepted into the network. This was something I dealt with before and I'm guessing the powers at be have changed the IS filters. I would like to keep running the EUGENE digi iGate and wx as it is. So users have an idea where object packets ect are coming from. Most of us who have played with aprs for 20+ years understand this.
