If you have a fast system (remember, UIview was was frozen in time 16 years ago with the death of it's author, when "fast" meant a single-core Pentium II !) , you can speed up this update rate to 2 or 3 seconds - more useful if you are moving and have a high-res map display like Precision Mapping zoomed down to street level. If the GPS is correctly connected and enabled, you should be able to monitor the incoming GPS data stream by pulling down "Action, Show GPS input" in UIview. But I believe it would still show the GPS input window populated with coordinates, speed, time, etc.

UI-View32 and Microsoft GPS
K Wesolowski KD7DFV
Hello ¨C I have a very confounding problem.
I have a Sony laptop with Win 10 Pro, 8GB ram & an i3 I am using a Microsoft GPS that came with Streets & Trips 2006. GPS works very well and is spitting out GPGSAGPGGA GPGSVGPRMC Sentences every 1-2 seconds. I am able to read the stream from a Putty terminal. From: APRS101 NMEA Data APRS recognizes raw ASCII data strings conforming to the NMEA 0183 Version 2.0 specification, originating from navigation equipment such as GPS and LORAN receivers. It is recommended that APRS stations interpret at least the following NMEA Received Sentence types: [ GLL ] Geographic Position, Latitude/Longitude Data[ GGA ] Global Positioning System Fix Data [ VTG ] Velocity and Track Data[ RMC ] Recommended Minimum Specific GPS/Transit Data [ WPT ] Way Point Location I have the GPS on Com5 and have the setup pointed at it. In the setup I have 4800 baud, Com5 and GPS enabled all selected. I open the GPS Input to see my position and see no data. When I choose: Update My Location, I get an error window: GPS data is currently invlaid I am also using Winlink on this same computer and am able to use & send position reports using this GPS I have been looking around the application to see if there is another setting somewhere that I missed. I cannot seem to find anything though. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! -- Kevin KD7DFV |
Weather station software that works on ui-view
I am running ui-view and have a W-8681-pro II weatherstation. The manual with the W-8681 - pro II suggests I use Easyweather IP software. Will this software work with UI-view or is a free weather station software program that works with the weather station and uiview.

Re: I need some help configurnig UI-View.
Have you taken a look at the setup notes/examples in the RP Manual here:
Tons of info and setup examples in the above and on the www.robust-packet.net website Make sure you have the appropriate settings and mode programmed into the Tracker before even attempting to use UI-View with it. UI-View32 is just going to kick it into KISS mode using whatever you programmed it for as the active mode (300, RP300, 1200, 9600 etc). Put a terminal on the TNC and make sure you can even decode traffic off 10.1473 USB dial before going further. Many seem to get hung up on the Communications / KISS setup screens, the attached example should help. Once UI-View32 is up and running the KISS LED on the modem should be lit. Room for minor tweaks to UI-View32's defaults since they were selected for VHF vs HF, but the above should get you going along. 73 Jeff WA4ZKO |
I need some help configurnig UI-View.
I want to create a robust packet gateway using an SCS-tracker. I have had it work in the past but something is not right. I have everything essentially set up.
Before I get into any detail I would like to find someone using it as a gateway, using it for robust packet (or think that that's not a problem anyhow) and has about 45 minutes to spare. I have the software installed, and the last time I used it the issue was that I could not see my own gateway in the map so didn't know if I was even sending out beacons. I can get into allof that later. Thanks. Jeff N7TTQ |

When you like to make your own UIview maps, download TAHO v4.12 or higher. It makes the maps and "inf" file.... It is FREE. Dimitri Junker is the programmer!!! 73 Luc - ON4NL -----Original Message-----

Hi every one and thank you to the group admin for all the hard work put into this group.I don't know where the OEM maps provided from UIview came from, but there is a source for an unlimited number of static (non-scrolling non-zooming fixed view) maps for UIview for any part of the world. "Universal Maps Downloader" is a shareware program that will automatically download and stitch bitmap tiles from Google Maps, Microsoft Bing Maps, Yahoo Maps, Open Street Maps and may other sites into seamless map images of virtually any size.? It allows you to download either street map, satellite views or relief/topo views from any of these sources. You only have to provide the lat/long coordinates of the upper-left and lower-right corners of the area of interest. I have generated hundreds of maps for numerous UIview installations with this application. Re: Registration Fail
UI-View has supported sound card TNCs from the start, and the changes to get it to conform to current settings are minimal.
