Re: Can't get past the registration page

Hi Group

It's eating humble Pie time. I solved the registration problem. The e-mail clearly said, "Copy the registration details EXACTLY as printed". I used by name, Bob, instead of my full name AND surname. Now I can start setting it up. 73s Bob

Can't get past the registration page

Bob Fleck

Hi GroupI'm Bob vk2byfYears ago I used to monitor the 145.175 frequency using an IC-02A and a Kantronics KPC-3 TNC. I'm pretty sure I was using UI-View.Lately I have bee renewing my interest in Amateur Radio by chasing after the satellites and learning packet again.some QuestionsI tried an old PC with legacy RS232 ports but can't even get to the setup screen. It runs Windows XPCan I use UI-view32 with Windows 7?I registered and got a number years ago but it won't accept the number now.I re registered and got the same number again but it still wont accept it.I even downloaded UI-View32 again and registered it but I just can't get past that first screen. Is there another packet program that will run on Windows 7 64bit?Ultimately I would like to digipeat through the ISS and some of the new Satellites.I have tried AGW and UISS but had trouble transmitting. (prolific/windows driver) RX was ok.I have tried for a long time to work it out by myself but the old brain is worn out. Thanks's in advance if someone could point me in the right direction.73 Bob

Can you connect to server? What is not working? Are you sure you don't have a firewall issue?

Erv,

In this case you have to allow the outgoing connection to port 14580 of the
server and forward the incoming port 14580 to the correct PC on your LAN.

This may require that you use static LAN IPs or at least use IP
reservations in your DHCP server settings.

Thank you was to be my next try just wasn't sure if there were any others

You shouldn't have to open any ports for UI-View to work properly, except for accessing the UI-WebServer from the outside world.

For North American users, PMap 9 (Precision Mapping 9.0) along
with PMapServer 9 can provide street level mapping for all of North
America. They can be installed without hassle on Windows 7 & 8.
PMapServer is available for download on the UI-View website.
However, Undertow Software is no longer selling new copies of
PMap 9, but existing owners can continue to use it as long as they
can get it registered.

Users of Windows Vista, 7 or 8 should not install UI-View below

required port mapping in router

I have just installed a new router and have it a bit tighter than
previously. I need to know the internap and external ports that need to be
mapped in my router to allow the traffic in and out of the uiview software.
I know it uses 14580 internally but does in translate and what does it need
coming back? Should be simple but I am missing a piece somewhere

Re: Multiple Configurations

I think I may have found it. It's a separate help file in the UI-View32 folder.

Re: Multiple Configurations

Well I got as far as

"Multiple Configurations
It is possible to create multiple configurations for UI-View32 - perhaps one for home use and one for mobile use - using VBscripts. for more information, see the Multiple Configurations help file"

but when I click on the link nothing happens. Is this a local file or a website? I must be missing something.

Max KG4PID
Yes! UIview can do this! Search in the UIview help system for "Multiple
Configurations" . In turn this topic links to a separate help system just for
this issue.

Multiple Configurations

Does Ui-View32 have the capability to be started with a different configuration file? I use a laptop and when I'm at home I make an AGWPE type connection to LDSPED running on my Raspberry Pi which lets me see everything my igate hears. But when I'm away I like to be able to connect directly to the APRS-IS. And I'm in the process of setting up an igate on 145.825 for the ISS and anything else on that frequency. So I need the ability to start Ui-View32 with a different configuration depending on what I want to look at. Is this possible with Ui-View? If not, is there another aprs client that will? I could make it work by creating some batch files to copy the correct configuration files before starting, but I rather not if I don't have to.

Aha! I had an updated version of this file that includes the D710 .CMD files
in my local archives, but overlooked uploading it to my webserver after the
updates!

I have now uploaded the correct current version of "UIview_TNC_CMD_Files.zip"
to my webserver at:

The updated file is attached. Note that there are two versions of the D710

mobile use WITH a GPS attached.

OOPS! I through I was responding directly to the sender off-list... Of
course the attachment didn't make through the Yahoo! remailer. Resent direct

Further, be aware that if you are using the new second-generation D710G with
the built-in GPS, that the GPS pass-through feature (that combines TNC RX data
and local GPS data on the same connection to the PC the way the older D700 and
D7 did ) only works when using an _EXTERNAL_ GPS connected to the serial port
on the radio control head. The internal GPS only works in the stand-alone
"APRS" mode; not with an external computer involved.

Re: Station ID

Station ID

Hi Terry,

Thanks for responding so fast.

I wanted to have the sound made whenever the station
was found after the first time.
My program use to do it and for some reason has stopped.

I did try your suggestion and there was no sound.
It done sound the call letters the first time.
I don't see any difference between announced stations
first time and announces every time.

What do you think????

Thanks,
Robert
