Store and Forward logs

Heres somthing I sent to Roger, but I also wondered if anybody else has
tried to do somthing similar. == Iv have been trying to work out a way of taking a log created from ui-view (noteably the mir one) and retransmitting it on another frequency after the pass. Iv tried everything I can think off but I can't get round the fact the all my unproto's go out from my callsign and thats the bottom line. Can you think of any way I could do this. GPSIII & TNC ?
Mike.G1ZRN
Hi all,
Just recently purchased a GPSIII and was wondering which tnc can be interfaced directly & is the data automaticlly converted to "packet" ? without the need for a computer etc. Would Kenwood's TH7D(?) (the one with the built in tnc ? ) handheld be any good with the GPSIII ? I would like to read about anyone going mobile foot or vehicle, and exactly how they set up their system with regards to tnc/radio/GPS etc. P.S. Anyone who wants v1.01 let me know as I offer an email service every weekend. Bye for now. Mike G1ZRN. Packet G1ZRN@GB7PZT.#24.GBR.EU |

BPQDIGI Substitution
Having had a chance to play with the digi-substitution system, I have to say
that it works well, but that changing callsigns for locators doesn't help me identify where the digipeaters are compared with substituting callsigns. However, being able to put in an alternative to MYCALL is useful, since I can use G0DJA instead of G0DJA-3. I'm trying to think how the substitution system might be set-up to be more useful than just callsigns. Locators are all very well if a little impersonal, in my opinion. Also, it's not always obvious, in an area where there are a few UI-View/BPQDIGI users about using locators, who is who. Perhaps a look up table of callsigns verses locator squares. Or callsign verses latitude/longitude, where the callsign is the 'standard' call without SSID against locator or lat/long, might be useful? I've been using a program that G8PMT put together which displays the stations heard and the digipeater paths used. This, to me, is a useful addition the the Station List in UI-View, as it cuts all the lat/long and WX information, but shows the path that the UI frames have taken. Very useful when putting together a return path for a 'QUERY', 'DX?' or trying to talk with someone...... Anyway, just a few thoughts on what's been happening here. Cheers de Dave (G0DJA) |

A good crop of stations heard last night. Mostly on 144.800 but a fewCertainly was lively - between 21:46 on 29th and 00:58 on the 30th (when I turned in for the night) I copied the following in Berkshire: G4MHJ G7RUH G3NHF G8MZX-7 G0TRT G0DJA-3 M1CYB G3XVL M1AJG-3 G7BWP G8HDK M1AJN G3ZCV G7BHM G1UGJ G7UYP G0OPC G6MMT M1ADT G6ODT G4IDE The only direct ones were G7BHM, G7BWP & G7RUH. Best DX was G0DJA-3 at 159 miles unless you count G8MZX-7 on his bike at the south pole - 9756 miles :-) I can hear G7BHM direct but for some reason he doesn't seem to hear me... Interesting stuff... A good crop of stations heard last night. Mostly on 144.800 but a few
were on 432.650. (I heard quite a lot of distant 70cm traffic, but unfortunately most of the stations didn't have a locator in their beacons.) Some of the stations marked as heard via a digi were heard direct earlier in the night. It's becoming obvious that 144.800 "opens" for me at the point when I start to hear G7BHM, many of the distant stations are heard via that digi. BPQ Digi V1.2
Roger Barker <[email protected]
I've put a new version of BPQ Digi on my web site. It's -
This version has one change:- Previously, MYCALL was used for both alias substitution and to prevent frames being digipeated that originated from your own system. MYCALL is still used to prevent you digipeating your own frames, but a new parameter, SUBSTALIAS, is used for alias substitution. If you use this new version, please read the comment at the top of BPQDIGI.TXT. I made this change because I wanted to experiment with using my IARU locator for alias substitution, it seems a good way of adding extra useful information to the frame as it is digipeated. So, if you see frames that have been digipeated by IO92XX, it's me! -- Roger Barker, G4IDE roger@... Boston, UK |
