That is interesting information to have. I guess I didn't realize it
until I had a lot of icons to redraw. I suppose this infers that
processor and video card speed has a direct relationship with UI-View's
display performance (more so than a package that doesn't redraw
everything each time a new icon appears).
It doesn't redraw everything each time a new icon appears, it only
redraws when an existing icon changes. You can control the redraw
behaviour from "Auto Refresh" in "Miscellaneous Setup", or you can
disable Auto Refresh on the Options menu. Whether the default refresh
mode of immediate is suitable depends on the speed of your PC and the
level of activity you are seeing.

Note that WinAPRS does not do an immediate redraw.

Similar comments apply to the setting of "Automatically sort station
list."

Hello all I have trouble here with the UI-View using
version 2.16 , It is not transmitting to the internet.
I getting total no responce (ack) from stations at all.
1. In "Station Setup", set an interval for your internet beacon.

2. Read the "APRS Serve" section of the help, there's some good stuff in
there!

3. Open the Message window.

4. Connect to APRServe, saying "yes" to the "Log on when connected?"
question.

5. You can see when you are connected, because all the incoming data
will start appearing, and you will see a message from the server saying
that you have connected.

6. Your first posit beacon will go out about 15 seconds after you
connect.

7. When sending messages, you must use port 'I' (for Internet). If you
use the default port '1' (one) they go out on the radio.

Hi Ed,

The expire time can be set by the user from Setup - Miscellaneous.
Pressing the F1 key whilst you are in there will bring up the context
sensitive help.

An expire time of 0 will leave the icons on permanently.

Hi ,

Many tnx for the very prompt reply, sounds good.

Where can I get the new version? I note the copy in the "extras" folder
is
still MPH only.
I've uploaded it again. For some reason it didn't get updated.
You'll now see both MPH and KmPH.

No, because "Ok" accepts all the changes you have made while the
dialogue is open. For example, you might add stations to the list or

Also, the blue text in the dialogue says "Add stations to the excluded

Re: UI-Path New Feature and Screenshot

It can be found from the ACCESS bit of UI-PATH and clicking on a station.

I think the last bit in square brackets says it all really :-) or :-(
depending upon your point of view <Grin>

May I suggest adding it to the 'Extras' file in the File area of Onelist please?

(For those unsure of how to get to the Files area, go to the onelist UI-View
area and click on 'Files' on the left hand side of the screen. HTH)

Re: v2.16B

I wasnt pressing return. Call me mister weirdo, but I was
pressing OK. Pressing OK should work shouldn't it??
Excuse the smile here :-)

That instruction (hitting 'Enter') isn't only in the help file, it's on the
screen, printed on the dialogue box.

I'm trying not to sound sarcastic, honest, but it certainly gave me a giggle
after my 1st day back at work after the hols.

Either I have found a bug or a feature.

The excluded list clears itself everytime you
call it up. Is that deliberate?
Do you mean "Setup", "Excluded List"? Mine doesn't. What are you putting
in it?
I can confirm that all the stations which I, temporarily, put in the
excluded list stayed there even if I put another station in later.

I wonder if it's as simple as forgetting to hit 'enter' after typing the
callsign in the box at the bottom. If not, then I'm out of ideas......

Did anyone see me /M in the Midlands on 144.800 yesterday afternoon? I'm
interested to know what digis are operational in that part of the world.
I didn't see Ian, but here's a few West Midlands stations that are often
plotted from up here:-

G1ZRN - Kidderminster
G8VPR - Cannock
2E1EQJ - Telford
G7OCW - Telford
G0CER - Telford

If I get chance, I'll take the TNC with me to the office in Coventry and see
who else is about.

That's actually normal!

When you get a few hundred, or even a thousand, plots as you will from the
Internet APRServer, then it can get to be very noticable.

I use my KAM+ in KISS mode, and it works well. The only thing that I would
change, if I could afford it, would be to upgrade to a version of the
firmware that would support GPS input.

[snip]

Pleased to see that Bob has got it working. Just a few comments:-

Go to the tab IP Address and click on Specify an IP address
in the section IP Address type 192 168 0 1
You should also add a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. (Or does Windows put
it in for you?)

now go to the windows directory and look for a file called HOSTS.SAM (if
you
have amipro on your machine it will have the amipro icon) control and
right
click and select OPEN WITH if that happens and use the NOTEPAD icon
ok now you need to add in the address's of all the machines you want
uiview to
access mine looks like this

192.168.0.1 pent133
192.168.0.2 dawns
192.168.0.3 laptop
save the file once compleated
HOSTS.SAM is a SAMple HOSTS file and is ignored by Windows, the file
should be saved as HOSTS - no extension.

Also, an additional entry of -
127.0.0.1 localhost

is always a good idea - it allows you to connect to servers on your own
PC.

click on the uiview-ini file (not the one with the globe icon)
come down to the section [APRSERVE]
type in the name of your machine ie PENT133 and the ip address like this
PENT133=192.168.0.1
That isn't needed. Try taking it out, it shouldn't make any difference.

come down a few lines to HOST and change to
HOST=PENT133 (OR WHAT EVER YOUR MACHINE NAME IS)
and PORT to PORT=14480
That can de done from the "APRS Server Setup" dialogue. Those are the
two INI file entries that are updated when you select the server in the
dialogue.

next come down to [APRS_Servers]
and add the line PENT133=14480
That is the only editing of UIVIEW.INI needed.

I would recommend leaving the port at 1448, rather than changing it to
14480. The idea is that all UI-View servers should use 1448 unless there
is a good reason not to do so - no reason other than to make it easier
to connect to someone else's server.

One other point - In the "APRS Server Setup" dialogue, if you're
connecting to a UI-View server, you don't need to check "APRServe log on
required."
