He wasn't saying anything about the type of problem you were experiencing or how you reported it. He was merely pointing out that a DYNAMIC DEVICE will fail while running. Not while stored! If you want to waste a lot of time diagnosing your problem to eventually replace all the related hardware, feel free! He was giving you a very directed 'shortcut' to investigate first. He is absolutely right, BTW!
