FYI
Undertow's Precision Mapping software uses Trius Inc.'s map engine and paid a license fee to Trius Inc. for the right to do so. Even if you could argue for "copright abandonment" by Undertow vis-a-vis Precision Mappping 9.0 (PM), the Trius Inc. copyright for their map engine that PM uses is still very much alive and well and legally enforceable by Trius Inc. They should be the ones to ask about this matter as to how they feel about the free distribution and use of their map engine along with PM. Perhaps like the late Bob B. WB4APR, if PM is used soley by Amateurs with UIVIEW and other like APRS software they may waive their map engine copyright in a written statment because you actually only use the map engine and map database.
There's no need to use PM because there are other alternate ways to get free public domain maps for UIVIEW into your machine. Chris van Gorp, PA7RHM has wirtten about this matter in QST (Feb 2015) and on his website you'll see that he's written a UIVIEW Map Server program and other neat programs.
To paraphrase Edison "I've stolen my fair share. But at least I knew how to steal!"
